Default Changing Out Batteries In Key

I have a 2005 and I have never changed the batteries in my key. Is it a problem if one day I can't unlock the car or start it? Is it a problem to change the batteries?

You can unlock it with the key and still start it if the batteries don't work. If you don't believe me take the batteries out and try it. All the
key fob does is lock and unlock doors it has nothing to do with the ignition the key itself has a separate chip in it for the ignition. The batteries are easy to change.
