Owning a sportscar:
Something I never thought I'd do...I mean I have always needed a car for practical reasons beyond just the love of driving/looks of an auto. So my cars must do double duty - appeal to my soul yet be able to handle any conditions. A drive in the mountains on a beautiful day and the commute to work in slush and snow and ice, taking a friend out for a day or evening of fun or helping someone move. Hauling my cookies around or hauling my groceries around. You get the point. So, being a Chrysler fan, I followed the Crossfire release but never thought it would be a part of my life. Imagine my delight (and I know you people of all people can) at being in a set of circumstances where I can own another part of my dreams. I still have the practical car - which I also happen to love - and I have my beloved Crossfire, yay!

Getting the hang of rear wheel drive again:
Speaking of "yay"...or perhaps "woohoo" covers it better. Now I have a rear wheel drive car again. I learned to drive on a 1972 Monte Carlo. My first car was also rear wheel drive - 1962 Chevy II. Everything else since then has been front wheel drive. I wondered how it would be to "move backward" in handling. Bwahahaha, boy was I wrong in that idea. This lil roadster handles fantastic - and cornering is now becoming just a complete, laughing like a loon, get the hell outta my way cuz this is too much FUN, experience. I took a friend for a quick ride Sunday evening - this is a girl who appreciates autos as I do - and also drives way too fast (we are both in the red with our ticket accumulation for speeding). I actually scared her a little - not because we were spinning out of control but because we were cornering that hard and NOT spinning out of control, lol. She did look around for the non-existant "oh ****" handle though.

Convertibles:
Okay, what can I say? Once you've driven the roadster, that's all she wrote. And I originally wanted a coupe - oh, let's be honest, I'd definitely find a way to fit a coupe in the garage if it showed up looking for a home, lol. But when I was initially looking to buy, I hadn't even considered a ragtop because I had the flappy, loud as hell, hand -lifted, pain in the ***, convertibles of my youth in mind. Way too many problems there. Well this isn't like that at all. This is one latch, one button, mere seconds, wind in your hair freedom. Another "yay".

Being in the right place at the right time:
My Crossfire had actually been "sold" to another dealership right before Bladecutter and I got there. She was the owner's demo and had been traded off to a dealer in AZ. The truck was on it's way to pick her up. So our salesman let us take a look but no can drive. We shot the breeze for a bit and he spilled the beans on the great deal the AZ guy got on this fully-loaded plus a coupla extras, limited roadster. I sighed in regret and sighed once more when we discovered there were not only no new manual transmission Crossfires to be had in CO but this was the last year for the cars. I gave him my card anyways and told him if one showed up (from another dealer or even a newer trade-in) to give me a call. So the owner hits the guy up after we leave asking what happened. After hearing, he tells the gy - hey, no paperwork has been signed so if she's serious, give her a call back. He did, I was and after the easiest non-bargaining of my life, the car was mine. It's funny too because she is the exact color with the exact interior and the options I would have chosen...like she was meant to be. And no, I don't feel sorry for the AZ person - this baby was meant to be Bat's girl!

Lol, yep, I spotted Sodamhot's batmobile...and also InfernoRedXfire's sigline...I like the Batman but I love bats themselves. Toyed with ideas on custom bat work on the cars/bikes over the years but only managed to tattoo myself so far, lol.

I am thoroughly enjoying the forum. Very interesting mix of people here. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts with y'all on this thread (since I've already shared pics/video).

Anyways, the friend I mentioned above may be driving a Crossfire of her own one of these days - she fell in love with mine (knew she would!). Hell, even Bladecutter, who is a tried and true Porsche fan, has been looking at them (and their SLK siblings) since driving mine.
