Newspaper Article
There was an article in the wheels section of my paper last week about discontinued models of 2008. Here's what it had to say about the Crossfire and I quote,
"This cute little coupe and convertible appeared to have all the right creds, including German engineering (it used Mercedes-Benz SLK suspension and mechanical components) and one of the niftiest shapes to be found anywhere. It even received Chrysler's SRT treatment that turned the car into the ideal autocross demon. Sadly, its steep entrance fee and lack of dealer understanding and support meant that buyers really didn't get it either. Oh well, they're a bargain on eBay."
Well, I guess we "got it." But what was written about dealer lack of understanding certainly is true. This was in Newsday 1/4/09

To me when they said buyers didn't get it is unfair. I know I definitely fell in love with the car when they first came out and I did get it, but my budget couldn't handle it like a lot of folks. The price was actually where they should have been being that the entire drivetrain was Mercedes, but a lot of folks opted for the Mercedes instead, since they had the money to do so. Now that the prices have dropped drastically, all those peeps that did get it, now own them!Thank you Chrysler!
I am a woman and I "got" it. I first saw the Crossfire in a bruchure Chrysler sent to me featuring concept cars. I wanted one and knew I would eventually get one.
Sorry but it makes me cry when I see how much they are selling for in the states. My car loan is at 8% and I owe so much on "Lucy" still despite paying on it down for more than two years.
Mayber I should sell in the spring and buy a newer one in the states.

Nice article, clearly they got it! All of us got it! while it took me awhile, was holding out for a convetible that could handle golf clubs - but even I finally was seduced buy the Crossfire.
I got it which is why I bought the roadster as soon as it was available.
The steep depreciation in price allowed me the "luxury" of adding an SRT6 and the 2007 coupe for a combined price of what I paid for the roadster.
If you bought the car for an investment or expected it to retain value, then it was a poor decision. Cars are not good investments despite what we see on the auto auctions on tv. A car is either basic transportation (like my wife's Mercury Milan) or a fun driving machine (like my Audi A6 or the XF's). Since I intend to keep them for a long time, the current market value really means nothing to me. I'm more concerned with parts availability in the future -- I can always find a M-B experienced mechanic to perform repairs.

Agree 100%. The only person on the lot that seemed to know anything about the one I bought only knew about it from tinkering around with various buttons and maybe a little reading. Even then this guy said "oh don't worry about the premium fuel, you can run regular"...I made sure to call their maint shop and another just to verify my suspicions. Even then, the after market salesman who kept trying to sell me maint plans said "you get free tire rotation as well..." as part of his pitch. He turned red when I said I didn't know you could rotate 18 & 19's.

The sales manager didn't even know if they had any Crossfire Certified mechanics in the service bay team. Yet, he insisted, they could take good car of both our crossfires.

Decent little paragraph & I agree except for that "CUTE" comment.
I don't want to start another thread about whether or not our cars are cute or not. It's bad enough that one of my wife's friends calls it a Barbie car.
'Course, she's too much of a chicken to take a ride in the SRT.
Cute, my left cheek.......
Of course, if some hottie calls it cute, well then that's a whole different story

Mine?
Heck, Franc, you're now an "OFFICIAL" SRT owner.
Oh, oh, faux pas!
CATHY'S SRT.......what was I thinking???
P.S. It's the Blinky that gives it that 'less-than-cute' look!!!

Ditto on the dealer understanding. When I purchased the car (new) the guy that sold me my car told me that the car had a very reliable Chrysler 320 engine in it. Fortunately, I had fallen in love with the cars when they came out and knew the difference. Since we were really dealing on price, I didn't bother to correct any of the drivel he was spouting since it wasn't going to effect the price. The down side to that deal was that he had to warranty the car for me and he had it 3 times to correct what I thought was a battery issue. It turned out that he didn't even have the computer programming to analyze the X'Fire and wasn't able to tell that the hydraulics in the convertible top were failing resulting in the computer for the roadster top mechanism and the battery failing.

Tire Rotation: Per my dealer you can rotate them side to side (as long as they have not been replaced with one-directional tires). My OEM Conti's have been rotated this way once by the dealer.
