Default No 2009 Crossfire - Why?

I'm a new guy and you all probably know, but why has production of the Xfire ceased for 2009 model year? A new 2010 retractable hardtop perhaps, or something less sinister?

Anybody? Call me curious.

LOL! Sorry but this made me laugh really hard.

Technically there aren't even any 2007/2008 crossfires, and very very very very few made in 06.. they're just leftovers.

The Crossfire was a GIANT flop for Chrysler. Not many people pay over $30k for a 2dr sports coupe from CHRYSLER (even though it's Mercedes)..

Yup, the Crossfire has been discontinued. The last one rolled off the mfg line in 2007, and the last year they made any significant qty was 2005.

I am going to write Chrysler this minute and get them to re-start production! This is a travesty!

But seriously it is just like anything all some things must come to an end! Thats just how they remain good.

Sorry to see em go but glad I have one!

All kidding aside, keep in mind that the Crossfire is basically just a previous generation Mercedes SLK in a different skin. Now that Mercedes and Chrysler sleep in different beds, and since the Crossfire was not a sales success, and since technically speaking the cars platform is considered rather dated, that's all folks.

I doubt we'll ever even see the name used on a future vehicle.

Actually, my Crossfire was built somewhere in the middle of 2007, based on my window sticker.

Maybe they will make some adjustments and give it a good price point in hopes of making a flagship out of it.

They could call it the Chrysler Bailout.

Tjhe 2008 models had knee airbags, look at the glove boxes. They are different. So unless they took existing cars and made this change, then they did actually build some cars in 2008. Not just retitled elders. I think it's sad these cars didn't get more play. But on the other side of the coin, I was able to buy a very cool Mercedes Benz on the cheap. Also, some of the coolest cars made didn't sell well and are highly collectible today. Examples from mother Mopar would be the AMX, the 1969 Charger Daytona, and the 1970 Plymouth Superbird. I like the rarity. I see too many in my area now.

The AMX was made by American Motors not Chrysler,,, Chrysler wanted the JEEP, not anything else and none of AMC's car names can be used without Chrysler's permission on T-shirts or in advertizing, you may see a car made by AMC on TV or a movie but they will never say " he just left in a AMX they will say he left in a 2 door red car. jim

AMC has been long considered to be Mopars red headed stepchild. I didn't mean to imply it WAS a Mopar. Just affiliated. I've been waiting a long time for the right AMC to come along. Especially a 68 or 69 AMX.

None were built in calendar year 2008, all the 2008 model year cars were built in 2007. The last one rolled off the line in December '07.

OH, and the resale value is terrible and continues to drop. Oh well, I guess I'll have a 4000 dollar AMG car that will blow the doors off of just about anything on the street south of 70 grand! Poor me...

Default My thinking of these Crossfires

As for me and my SRT roadster, I dont baby driving her and keep her in the garage like most owners. I dont worry about the mileage also like most of these guys. I think its stupid owners actually take pics of their odometers to show off how low of miles they have on them? HELLO? Do you enjoy your car by it sitting in the garage all the time. I have 40,000 on mine and run her hard! Ive nearly beaten anything that moves! Although I play hard with my car,Shes always clean, she gets her checkups and oil changes like it should (oil more cause I run her hard) Shes a little monster on the road and Im loving her! Im talking like she's a woman because she's like my wife. Dont take crap off anybody and most times gets her way! As long as shes beautiful to look at and winning, She can get whatever she wants! ;-) Hey guys, take your car out and have fun with it and dont worry about the miles for Christ sakes!! Its made to enjoy and is just a shame yall dont drive them! That's what its for! Worrying about it breaking down, that's what the Maximum care warranty is for!

I've driven 30,000 miles in the past 26 months and that is without driving in snow and I live in the Chicago burbs.
I know when I'm ready to sell this one there will be another low mileage garage queen for sale somewhere waiting for me to come along and buy it.
Not to worried about the miles I put on her.

Actually, you are wrong. Crossfires were made up until December 2007. Production ended on Dec. 19, 2007 I believe..

As a matter of fact, yes I do. Our red coupe is a daily driver but the black roadster SRT is a weekend treat to drive. Just over 7k miles on the meter. I get a smile on my face every time I walk into the garage.

well, when you get a little older, you will understand why some us keep an extra toy in the garage and try to keep the miles down, especially when the toy isn't made anymore...but thats just me, and don't care what you think about it actually. It's my toy, and you can't play with it, unless you come to the track, and love to play then...I've put about 8K on it in 3 yrs...so that isn't too bad...but it will remain a toy, and live in the garage....
