Question Top Open/Close locking noise?

Hey all,
I bought my roadster used so I have no idea if this is normal or not, but when I open the top, the lock on the rear tends to make a loud "pop" noise when it releases and locks down when I close again. I assumed its just the way it was but dropping the top for the first time of the season the other day got me thinking.

Is this normal?

Mine makes that same noise. Thought of trying to put a little lithium grease on the latch but I never did. Have the car a year and a half and put the top down whenever I can. No problems detected other than that noise.

Yep, at first I thought it was a problem too. It seems to be common.

Did anyone actually put the lube to it? I have been thinking the same thing, but if someone tried it and it didn't help, no sense in any of doing it.

I've figured that the "pop" comes from the latch opening quickly. I don't think that lube would help. I could be wrong.

I tried lubing it.. but the noise is stil there. I figure its the latching and unlatching of the top lock and not a rubbing issue so the lube didn't help.

Thanks for all the comments. I am used to Detroit Iron with looser tolerances, this car has none.

I don't suppose this adds any value, but I have the same thing. I wondered if it was normal too, but never got round to asking you good people!
