Tape strip reconditioning
I know I've tried a number of fixes for the faded tape strip, But:
This is a heads-up for Mike-in-Orange about my latest attempt to bring the dreaded tape strip back to life.
I (gasp!) used Meguiars High Gloss Hot Shine Tire Gel after a thorough cleaning-6 week ago. Still looks great.
I'm sure that I just voided my warranty, but it's the best product I've found for this troublesome bit of plastic.
It's definitely worth trying for those who care!

Re: Tape strip reconditioning
Hey Maxcichon
Dubbin is like a shoe polish, and comes in at least black or neutral. I just happened to have a tin of the neutral hanging around, so i tried it. The tin states "for waterproofing, softening and preserving of leather footwear, boots, jackets and sports goods". I use it on my m/cycle jacket.... Figured it couldn't do any harm
And cheers - yes my girl. Managed to find an unlocked gate which gave me access to the river's edge

This product is a thick, syrupy clear product for tires. It states "High Gloss", but can be buffed out to a nice matte finish for tires.
It's effect on the tape strip is quite long-lasting. The best I've found.
Once again, nice pic. Wallpaper candidate!

I was able to remove the dried wax spots with Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner-step one of that line and my PC 7424. Just did the strip at the same time as the rest of the paint. Kind of an accident, really. Took the white waxed areas right off! Since then, I've been looking for a product to make the gray areas match the black again.
Futile search until now.
I wonder if Mine-in-Orange has tried it? He said he was going to...

Re: Tape strip reconditioning
I want and need to replace the tape strip on the rear deck. I've purchased this items from Mopar parts and now an wondering if I can simply put it on top of the
existing tape or should I somehow remove the existing. if it should be removed what would someone suggest to do such?
