Default '05 Crossfire Convertible top

So, with several members having issues with the glass coming loose on the top, what kind of resolution have you found? Living in Florida; entering the hurricane season; and, a 100+ unit backlog from the manufacturer is creating some stress. Now, we really have to put the garage in order!

Unfortunately, you should have made room in the garage sooner; that's why your top is going to pieces.

Good luck, but I doubt if we will ever see a another new top out of Chrysler, or whatever you call 'em nowadays. Might be best to look locally for a small convertable top shop for repairs to the one you now own.

Option 1: have a 40 weight vinyl window sewn in to the top.
Option 2: wait 2-4 months for the manufacturer to catch up with the increasing backorders (in central Florida, we understand that there are 50+ Crossfire convertibles needing new glass)
Option 3: find a long-standing, highly qualified company to make a new top with the same German fabric but using the readily available Nissan 350Z window.

Option 1 is 1 day turnaround and a chunk of money
Option 2 is indefinite and, we heard, unlikely
Option 3 is 10 days and a bigger chunk of money however, it maintains the investment and the integrity of the marque

We are going with Option 3 and can't wait to get 'Baby' back on the road.

Wow! Must be summer time with all of these posts about glass coming out of the tops!
Found out that my glass was separating also. So far I have...
  • Moved my PRETTY 65 Chevelle SS out of the garage (sorry Baby) so I can put the Roadster in.
  • Bought a car cover so I can cover the car while it is outside at work.
  • Repaired the top with 3M Window-Weld (08609). So far so good!
We are in our monsoon season now so I will probably drive other cars until I am sure I will not get caught in the rain.

I kinda like the vinyl window idea. At least you wouldn't have to worry about it anymore though it would be harder to see through.

For those of you who have experienced the top/glass separation problem on the roadster, ... are there any failures from people NOT living in really hot states...it seems that most problems reported for this failure were from FLORIDA, or ARIZONA. Any other states seen top failures?

Thanks....Ben

Good news... Chrysler finally has stepped up to the plate. Below is the link Chrysler is using to mfr the tops here in USA (Rhode Island) If still under warranty, it will be covered. If not, at least you have a source. The tops are BETTER than OEM. Cost is about $1200 for best fabric which is German canvas. Installation is extra, but not a big deal. If under warranty, your dealer will arrainge all. If not, call the company and ask for Jane. Time frame is about 3 weeks as old top needs to be shipped to them. Good luck.

The previous owner kept my ROadster in a garage (I can tell by the paint!) and I keep her there, too; unless I am out and about - but that's only on the weekends. She stays safely tucked away in a (are you ready for this?) air conditioned garage.

But no, I'm not obsessed with my car, don't be silly or insulting!

You know, with the good info like in this thread, I think it's time to support this site financially.

Off to take care of that right now.

I will need a new top soon. My rear window is fine, but the top shows a lot of wear. Around the first of the year will be the best time for me as the Houston heat and humidity will be under control for a couple of months.
