Windows up with top down?
I thought I read in my manual that running around with the windows up and top down is a bad idea. But I can't find the reference in the manual.
I guess that, without the top there to "check" the vibration, I guess it COULD be a problem. But I have seen Roadsters and other convertibles running around with the windows up and top down - so is this a problem in general or not????
(I SAID I was new to covertibles, didn't I?
)

Every car that I have owned was a convertible, never read anything like that in the Crossfire owners manual. The only car that I owned that had a reference to not riding with the windows up and top down was my 1997 Sebring JXi and that warning was for the rear windows.
If it was a "bad thing" then why would the cumputer put the windows back up when you lower the top?
Try it. Top up, windows up. Lower the top but hold the switch beyond cycle completion with the tonneau cover latched. Your windows will go back up.
Logic would suggest it is OK. Your girlfriend, wife, (or both) will tell you it is required.
I wouldn't argue with either.

Well, I THOUGHT it was a silly idea - and had no idea the windows would go back up like that. Again, I'm very new to this car.

Not to mention the fact that women in hats is...just wrong. And look dorky anyways! It's either them or us.
Women in hats is wrong? I guess you've never watched the Kentucky Derby and have seen those satellite dish size hats they wear there. Besides most guys aren't busy looking at my wife's cap, they're looking at her cleavage.

The only time that I will drive with the windows up and the top down is if I'm doing highway driving (above 70) as it will reduce the wind noise a bit. Also, if it is below 50-55F, I may have the windows up and heater cranking to keep the passenger happy (and warm).

pizzaguy, you may have heard something like this, but maybe just the opposite.
I read a lot about the rear window glass separation problem, especially in the hot, un-garaged sunny climes. Driving with the top up and windows down DOES create a lot of flutter in the rear portion of the top, perhaps exacerbating the glass separation issue.
Beats me, but I bet now you're really confused. Relax and enjoy the ride.

If you're in the car by yourself, the best thing to do is leave the passenger window up, and the driver's side window down.
