those rollbars are not tuv approved and may not support the vehicle in case of a rollover. use the german ebay for tuv approved rollbars. its critical to have the proper saftey features in a convertible

Note the OEM roll-bars on Xfire roadsters connect the same way and do not support the vehicle in a rollover.

Max, if you want to try them, I have a set sitting in my garage LOL.

I bought them thinking they would work the same as the SLK bars all the guys have put in their coupes, and since it is a coupe, no need for safely concerns, but they are a 1/2 from even getting into the holes, so I can not verify fitment. Also, the plate that goes between the bars has an actual support under it that would require further modification to the XF deck to accomodate. I thought about trying, but with parts becoming more rare, I did not want to modify the deck beyond OEM use.

They are a VERY nice looking bar, the chrome has a nice finish and they are heavy. I wondered about the quality when I ordered them, but it is very nice.

Too bad they don't fit at all.....

Ok. Since expecting the OEM rollbars to do anything in a rollover except determine exactly where your head would be severed (~ ear height), it really wouldn't bother me that these are not TUV approved.

The OEM's aren't approved for USA track use either-too short.

I don't mean to be a smartass. I just find it ludicrous. Picture this if you will:

Drive off the edge of the road at speed. Car starts to roll. Seatbelt locks up, pinning you to the seatback unable to duck. My head sticks 4" above the OEM rollbars.

The rest of this movie should be easy to visualize...if not for the faint-hearted.

You should see my son in this car-he's MUCH bigger than me.

Max, they will not work on a roadster as they don't have the little tabs to hold up the back panel. I'd have them in my car right now if they would. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news bud.

Max,

Check out an ebay member, I am fairly certain the name is AutoGrimmig, he will have SLK bars for $149 that are exactly the same as the last set you posted. Search and look for the $150 ones and check names, should be pretty easy to find. Good Luck, let me know how it works out as I will be putting the same ones in the coupe.

These bars are chrome though, Max, what gives

FWIW, I see that the European Union has a 19% 'value added' surcharge on these roll bars. This will be Obama's next effort to fund his programs and avoid 'taxing' the middle class.

Where in the f*ck did this come from? Dude, I enjoy you political bantering in the politics forum because either what you have to say is so far out there or because it's right on base but keep that stuff there and this stuff free of it.

I have a set setting in my garage too Max...I know one member fitted a set in his roadster...I saw them at the dragon....you can make them work, cause I know you have access to a welder...I think you have to move the tabs....but I know others have made fit...especially in the coupes....but you have to cut them up....you won't see what you alter...good luck....I can ship you mine if you want....LOL>>>
