Default High Mileage

I'm looking at a 2005 Roadster, great shape cosmetically and mechanically (as far as I can tell). 82,000 miles clean carfax. Priced VERY right.

Any thing special I should be looking for???

Thanks,
Rich

As with most any high mileage automobile it's a crap shoot !
I believe if you're patient you could find something with a few less miles, unless the car is calling out your name and the price is just too darn good to be true. Otherwise, research door rust, relay control module, crank sensor and buying used Crossfire. That'll keep ya busy for awhile !

look at the convertible top to see if it's separating...right there that'll cost you anywhere between $1,500 and $2,000 unless you really like to keep the top down ALL the time

Read back through this forum for threads asking for advice buying used XFs. It doesn't matter whether they have 10k or 100k, the advice is consistent. Only the risk is higher -- offset by cheaper price -- on a high mileage vehicle. Good luck.

PS - General concensus is that if the XF was well-maintained and not abused, it should be good for a lot of miles. These MB engines are pretty much rock-solid.

OK, along with the high mileage subject, if my Crossfire has over 75,000 miles on it, should I switch to that special "high mileage oil" now?

My two favorite accessories:
Crossfire windscreen windblocker
Crossfire Shift *****

I would stick with the 0w-40 oil.

On a normal car, I wouldn't consider it high milage until about 125K. On these, if they are well maintained, I wouldn't expect and major issues until 250K or better. Brakes, tires etc. excepted of course. Even the older Mercedese are good for 250K or more !!! I've read of well maintained million mile vehicles.
