Default New to the Forum

Hello, I just registered for the forum. My wife has always liked the Crossfire so I am looking for a Roadster Limited for her. I am way too tall to fit in it so sadly I won't be seeing any driving time in it if we can find one. She wants leather so that means the Limited and probably an auto tranny. Of course I would like to see the SRT6 motor. I will start searching the archives for new buyer info. Too bad there is a dealer close to me that has a 2007 with 11,300 miles for $16,825 but it has cloth seats and a stick. She may be OK with a stick but auto may be better. We live in Central IL so it looks like we'll have to travel to find the right car.

Great forum from what I have seen, I want to learn more about the car and be a smart buyer. Want to stay under $18K and see if we can find one or not. I think it will have more power than our 65 Corvair ragtop.

JoeR

Welcome to the forum. Good luck in finding the right crossfire for you...I mean your wife

How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and fit in my SRT just fine.

If you want a SRT then go for it, why not buy two? Haha.

I would look in about the 14k range for a limited roadster, with probably about 30k miles on the clock for that price. They can be found everywhere. I flew down from Chicago (when I lived there) to St.Louis to pick up my SRT and drove her back.

Again, good luck with your car shopping. This forum is a plethora of knowledge about this car. Search and ye shall find...or however that saying goes.

JoeR, welcome to the forum and good luck with your search. How tall are you? One of or friends son is 6 ft 9 inches and he drives their Crossfires. The n/a crossfires have 215 hp and I can't tell you much more since I don't own one. The SRT has 330 hp with a hand built AMG supercharged motor. They are fast in stock form and a blast to drive.Try using the cars for sale section on the forum to find what you want, then have a forum member in that location check it out for you. I bought our roadster that way and it cost $600 to have it shipped from Texas to South Carolina. Hope you find one soon.

Welcome to the forum. Good advice has already been given to you, so I will just agree with what has already been said. Good luck finding the right roadster. There are some good deals to be had right now, so be patient and the right opportunity will come along. I found mine in Illinois, and flew from Georgia to pick it up and drove her home. I have been loving it every since.

Thank to all for the welcome. I am close to 6'10" and wear size 17 shoes so you get the picture. Doubt I could drive a stick without having pedal problems. Funny that one person found one in IL where we live. I'd be afraid to buy one sight unseen and have a one way air ticket then the car isn't as advertised, I know people do it all the time on all sorts of vehicles, like using eBay same deal. Now that the weather is starting to turn that may raise prices on the Roadster. Best thing IMHO is to get on a forum like this where people have the same tastes and are honest about what they are selling.

Unfortunately Joe you won't find a full leather interior in an SRT6. They only came with Alcantara. So if the wife wants leather than an SRT6 is out of the mix.

Joe , once you find one your interested in, I would bet you will find a member that lives close and would go check it out and give you a honest evaluation of the car before you make any plans to travel .....Good luck

Welcome Joe. You could always get an SRT and swap out the seats with some leather seats from a Limited for your Wife.
I'm afraid you're right about your hight being an obstacle. Even though I'm 6'2'', I'm still comfortable driving my coupe. But when ever I ride in the passenger seat, I feel cramped. Personally, I think the only way you would ever be able to ride in her car is with the top down.

Thanks for the link in Michigan, KBB says under $15K for a 2006 even with such low miles. It must have some special options.

I agree, the price is too high in the current market. You can get a pristine SRT-6 roadster with low miles for that kind of money.

Ironic that you are in IL looking at cars in MI, and I am in MI and bought the SRT6 and 2007 coupe in IL. There actually has been a pretty good selection of XFs in the Chicago area but availability varies. I think you will see more available in the spring. Leather and heated seats are only available on the limited. Manuals seem to be rarer, or not resold as much, as automatics. You can get private party pricing from www.kbb.com and also search within a couple hundred miles of your zipcode for cars. At least you get a range of prices and mileage to consider. There are not many options -- either the cloth seat version or the limited, and I believe mostly limiteds were made. Other than that the only options were navigation, the automatic transmission, and all-season tires.
