Default Service Rip Off

Recently purchased a 2005 XF Limited Rdstr and just had the oil changed at $99.99. The dealer service rep then advised I needed engine intake air filters and a cabin air filter and they would be glad to do it for $179.00 + tax. I declined and replaced them all for for less than one third that price. Easy job less than a half hour labor for all. Next time I'll change the oil....I enjoy the XF more each day..l

Since they are not selling the number of cars they did back in 2008, they must make it up somewhere, that somewhere is service or parts....

Congrats on the purchase of your new Crossfire and welcome to the forum. You should consider joining us at the Tail of The Dragon meet in mid April. If you can make it you will have a great time.

Welcome to the forum. BTW, 99 for an oil change from a dealer was a very good price.

$99 for an oil change is actually a pretty good deal, imo. I got stuck for $150 when I made the mistake of taking it into the dealership. I won't be making that mistake again.

Welcome to the forum. $99.00 oil change from the dealer isn't that bad, the filters on the other hand is high. I get it done from Avis Quick Lube for $89.00 I average around 4,000mi. a year so I only get 1 oil change a year.

Can't make the April trip. Hope to find something near central Florida sometime soon.
The forum has provided a lot of good info and tips.

Makes you wonder if they used the correct (synthetic) oil at that price.

Gotta be careful...a Valvoline instant oil change place quoted me 89.95 for an oil and filter change..then i found out they were not using the correct oil. I declined and will do it myself this weekend.........

They are a Chrysler dealer and service center and advised they use Mobile 1 Syn. So I hope they stand by their adds.

As others have said, $99 is a great price for the oil change. Keep in mind, the dealer's profit center is his garage. Always expect them to try to sell you extra "goodies".
