Unhappy Cancelled Warranty

I recently paid off my 7yr/60k warranty and received a cancellation notice in the mail. The car was in service in 2006 and the warranty was purchased to extend till 2012, The notice states that they owe nothing to me. The car did go into the shop for 1 repair, an air pump needed to be replaced under that Chrysler warranty.
Is it legal for them to just cut me off after paying in full and on time. I signed a contract with chrysler on good faith that that service would continue till 2012

Steve

Not knowing the exact circumstances, on the surface I would say they have no grounds to do that. period. Look at your contract and see what the conditions are for cancellation, and under what circumstances this would have happened. if there are none, go to your State's AG consumer affairs dept to help you get this sorted out. Probably a mistake of some kind. The AG in most states is very good and get on things pretty quickly and can be a really big help.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like something is wrong, or a mistake was made.

Did you have a large number of modifications to your car when it went in for warranty work? Even then, I'd think that they would have to refund you on a prorated basis the rest of the purchased warranty (haven't studied up on it, but seems they would have to).

you are owed the pro-rated amount back if they cancel...Seak the help of our state insurance commission...I take it, it was an after-market warranty. If was, what company underwrote it?

They can't back out of the contract without compensation!

Oh wait, the federal government is involved...never mind!

Keep in mind that the warranty is time OR miles. I repeat - how many miles are on the vehicle right now? If you hit the mileage then it doesn't matter how much time is left. My car had a 4 yr 100K warranty on it when I got it but I will never hit 100K after 4 yrs of ownership - I don't get to keep my warranty until I hit 100k. The other reason that they would cancel the warranty without owing you any money is for fraud. If they believe that the warranty was obtained without an inspection, incorrect mileage or mods have been done. Ask them why they are canceling you & then make them prove it.

Also...was this a "third party" warranty rather than a "Chrysler" warranty. Most of the time dealers will try to sell you a third party warranty because the mark up is much higher. Case in point, when I purchased an extended warranty on my XLR they tried to sell me a third party warranty at a cost of over $3900.00 and did not cover the top (4 years 80,000 miles) rather than a GMPP warranty...the GM warranty only cost me $1495.00 (with top covered / 4 years 80,000 miles) with bumper to bumper coverage.

Angry Re: Cancelled Warranty

My car has only 27.5k on it and the warranty was through Chrysler in Detroit, the warranty was an extension at in service date in 2006 which should have extended it till 2013
it's seems that if they are tying this crap with me, it's going to happen to other people

If you paid the cost off with your credit card or your bank card, contact the cc company or your bank, and tell them that you want the charge cancelled, as you did not receive the service you paid for, and show them the cancellation notice.

BC.

Could be, but that is what state attorney general's are all about...at least the good ones.

My bet is its because the company that you bought the warranty through (Daimler-Chrysler) no longer exists. Its now Fiat-Chrysler.

Please keep us posted on the outcome because this could happen to others with a Chrysler warranty.

For what it's worth, I bought the warranty from Chrysler when I purchased my roadster and as far as I know it is still active. At least, no cancellations received.

Talking Re: Cancelled Warranty

I finally did get in touch with the people that wrote that warranty, they made a mistake on the initial contract and actually had two different one's so my warranty is still valid and that takes a lot of stressoff my shoulders
I'd like to thank everyone that posted here, it's good to have advice in first time situations
