Default Bogging engine.

What causes an engine to bog down and stall when accelerating?

You forgot to take the handbrake off?
More info needed please. You know when it happens, we do not.

Has this just started to happen lately? how long have you had the car? Any tune ups in its history? Does it happen on hot days cold days rainy day? is it immediate or do you have to drive for a while before it happens? Are you using premium fuel? any other fuel additives? When you accellerate does it bog down and stay down or does it recover after a second or so?

Do you have an automatic transmission in "winter" mode? Otherwise the above questions need answering.

Could also be the auxiliary intercooler water pump. It's located inside/behind the front RH fender liner directly in front of the tire. They are known to STB frequently and power will drop DRAMATICALLY.

Not sure what an "NA" is but I believe the only CF with a supercharger is the SRT, and you only have a intercooler pump on a supercharger.

NA is "Naturally Aspirated" meaning that it has no turbo or supercharger. Basically referring to the coupe and roadster models

OK...I didn't pick up on the NA "Naturally Aspirated" acronym, too early on an Sunday morning...sorry.

But ya, there is no intercooler, and thus no auxiliary intercooler water pump, on an NA motor and your "bogging" is somewhere else.

My automatic hesitates about a second after switching gears...I think this is just a normal quirk...

I recently had ours in the shop for one last "under warranty" check as we'd been experiencing some sluggish performance. Occasionally when you'd pull up to a stop light it would feel like it was trying to stall and would hesitate badly when you tried to take off again.

They ended up replacing 3 or 4 plug wires and all is well now.

Could we use a directory of common terms and abbreviations used in this forum that may be unknown to non-motorheads, or other DYIers? Sometimes it seems like the military or other Gov't. bureau around here.
If such a directory already exists here, I am unaware of it. Please direct me there. Otherwise, I'm the "squeaking wheel", so I will volunteer to make said directory if you folks will help by contributing your favorite abbreviations, phrases, jargon etc. with a clear translation and/or explanation. I'll start a thread to receive such if you want to contribute. Communication is the hardest task in human relations (see below)

Did you ever sort the original problem? Mine seems to misfire occasionally just for a second as if the whole engine has cut out but goes again straight away. NA 2004 manual Roadster to avoid confusion
