Default Cheap Cupholder ($10) for Autostick and Non-Smoker

Greetings All, New to Crossfire World and forum. I'm the owner of a 2005 Blaze Red, NA, Autostick Rag Top. It has 15k miles and is in showroom condition. The only thing that bothers me is the cup holder. I'm sure there are some novel fixes out there, but I just wanted a cupholder to work with little effort on my part and no physical changes to the car. Attached are pictures of a cupholder purchased from Advance Auto. The cup holder is designed to hold onto car vents but also works well on the Crossfire ashtray. No tools required. My kind of fix.

The only thing that bothers me is, if there is an open topped drink in there, there is the possibilty of spilling onto the console. Also, condensation drip from very cold containers. Other than that the search goes on!
I use the wedge style that wedges between the console and passenger seat. Of course this narrows the seating area for your passenger, but works great and has no holes in bottom to leak. It holds two drinks and has a center section for holding things. Just my $.02

EDIT: Welcome to the forum, and enjoy the ride

Minimal pressure on ashtray and bottom has absorbent cushion with lip to hold condensation. Most of my driving is with a bottle of water or coffee cup with lid. Not for everyone but works for me just fine.

Hi Grumps,

Just discovered your photos of the drink holder and was so impressed with your so9lution that I went out and sourced an identical unit this evening for our roadster.

Just one problem... I can't figure out how you attached and secured your holder to the ashtray. The metal clips included with the holder don't seem to be appropriate.

Can you kindly share your install method with us, so we too can enjoy a cold drink while motoring on a hot, sunny afternoon?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Glenn

A guy I work with spilled his coffee into the shifter of his mercedes from the cup holder and caused a short and electrical damage to the transmission. major bucks to fix. I would never have a drink that close to my shifter. Just my .02.

Thanks for the advice! Point taken. We never allow OPEN beverages in the drink holder. Just bottled water of coffee in a secure stainless container. And... we're very careful.

Thanks again.
