Default roof question???

about a week ago the roof switch started blinking roof worked fine, then it opened and i had to "assist" the rear panel go down. now its blinking all the time and this morning it started blinking faster. roof does not go down or attempt to go down at all... im guessing it needs fluid???? also i tend to drive around with the roof popped up. i just turn the handle push it up but i dont put the roof down it throws major air in the car and i dont go above 35mph like that i dont know if that may have something to do with it. i tried looking it up and havent found anything

Wow. I don't know what to say. You might have bent it pretty good. Even at those speeds. It makes a really efficient airbrake.

I wouldn't know where to begin...

Well first off close the top and latch it completely, and see if you get the same thing, can your hear the pump working? if it does, does it sound like its running fast like empty of fluid? have you noticed any dripping fluids from either side of the car around the rear for a leaking system, the fluid will run out drain holes, hopefully you did not damage the top stack by driving it and possibly bending it out of shape or through the parameters off. Look in the service manual for top operation and how to check your fluid level and start from there.

Is the panel in trunk in the correct position?

well i had the car awhile so i know its ins and outs. i drive with the roof like that since i have owned it so i dont think its bent. the panel is up in the trunk im not sure where the fluid goes in so im going to look for that. but when i drove it today it was blinking, then it would blink faster then it would go off every once and a while and when it was off i was able to use the roof. this is why i think its fluid, but i havent seen anything leaking. i also didnt hear the pump at all when i would try to lower it with the light blinking

The load of running the roof up and down drained your battery enough to make the spoiler deploy. Common. As for the rest. Best of luck. Let us know.

Funny it won't work with it running, though...

It won't work when running because the car is smarter than you and knows that eventually, running around with the top half deployed, you will ruin it. The German's engineer a lot of smarts into those little ECUs.

Not really, as you're not getting any satisfaction.

Saab's uses the same MB designed soft top, and have worked on a few of them. The top stack frame it self alone was $6,000 for a Saab, with out the canvas. There is the soft top controll module which has all the parameters programed into it, and when it see's enough problems it would act up very strange we had to clear out any soft top codes and start all over making sure all parameters were within specs, there is sensors all over the top, in the latches, in the hydraulic cylinders for up and down posistions for monitoring the first bow, second bow, third bow, back glass, tonnuea cover and such. Which any one of these could be as simple as out of adjustment or just right out defective, could also be a short in one of the sensor wires, I think you'll need the system scaned to check all this out, BUT I AM NOT SURE ON OUR MODEL, since I do not have a roadster and have not had the time to really check one out, I'm just shooting out ideas.
