Shifter broken
My '06 Limited Crossfire convertible has a broken shifter requiring that I use the override. The dealership wants over $2,000 to repair it. When placed in Park I am not able to get it out of park unless I use the override (stick a pen in the override slot and press down while pulling the shifter out of park). Any ideas on what I can do to repair it myself and what is causing the problem?
The dealership said it was a problem with the shifter assembly? They offered to install a used one if I could find it but they had no luck and I am unable to find one too. My extended warranty does not cover it either! My '06 has 74k miles on it.

Check your fuses! I had a similar problem with my Honda years ago. I was lucky to have a mechanic for a son who suggested I check fuses before taking it to the shop. He was right, it was only a blown fuse.
Good luck
Good luck
Just a wild guess, but I know the LX cars (300/charger/magnum/challenger) have had issues with the shifting mechanish. Billet Technologies made a billet aluminum part to replace the plastic piece in the shifter mechanism. www.billettechnoligies.com
