Actually just last month, coming home from Indy, (some of you may remember) I drove through two hail storms- I had no where to go on the Interstate but slow way down. Thankfully no damage. By the time I made it home, sunshine and cleanded her back off almost like new again.

I live in New Oreans. This time of year rain becomes a daily occurance. I'm fortunate to have a pick-up for a daily driver and a suv. The Crossfire was a 65th birthday gift and a reward towards my semi-retirement to myself. I've made arrangements with a local U-Haul dealer for a trailer to get her out of here in the enevitable hurricane evacuations to Tenn.

I was told by the previous owner that my CF was never intentionally driven in the rain or snow. However, it got caught in a few showers or rain squalls while away from home, Never ever saw road salt and was always put away between Nov. and May. The underside looks the part.

I never drive my roadster unless it's a day the top can go down. What's the point otherwise.

As for driving my other two vehicles in the rain? Of course I do. You see, the only thing I hate more than driving them in the rain, is walking in the rain.

Exactly my point...Natalie is my toy, and I always give her a sponge bath before putting her up in the garage. By the way Natalie has never seen soap ether, she's never been more then dusty and waxed once a month.

Hi Larry

Looks like a very nice TIGER you have there if you still have it ?? . I live in the UK & with the amount of road tax & car insurance you pay here you have to drive your cars as much as possible rain or shine .

Cheers

Andy

Mine will probably not see the rain again as I don't plan on taking any more long trips with her. But, I could get caught in a rain someday on a short trip and I won't agonize over it. I just like to keep her clean all over and hope to keep her looking good for years to come.

Mine gets driven daily. In all weather conditions, in all temps.

My house, which is a much larger financial investment that doesn't depreciate, is exposed to all elements and I don't even think twice about it. Why should I freak out more over a car, that was tested in all conditions? I recall factory photos from Karmann-Wilhelm that show icecicles on the front bumper, and another shot where the car is in a venerable oven. Tennessee weather is almost as extreme, and six years later, my car still looks brand new. In fact, the only visible blems on my car are from Camry doors in a parking lot, nothing a garage can save you from. Oh, and the occasional rock chip on the front of the hood from my high-speed indulgences.

It has wipers, all-season tires, and waterproof electronic systems under the hood. I use them all, and smile the whole time.

Ahh, I wouldn't be so sure about that, my friend.

Long term... LOL

Honestly, despite the loons at the helm at the moment, I've only lost 8% value on my house since 2007... My area is holding fairly steady. Location location location...

I can't speak as optimistically about my Crossfire. To wit, I didn't take nearly the beating that the first owner did... She paid $39K, brand new.

Location location, move the house to Canada. You'll be guaranteed an appreciation. Bring your weather with you.

I spent February in Cleveland... that was enough of the great white North for this Tennessee boy.

My relationship with my whip is completely intoxicating. Youth doesn't last forever so I satisfy her desires every chance I get, and she mine. Yes, she gets foam baths with exotic oils and fragrances more often than needed. Lots of hand rubbed attention. Frequent Sunday outings just to be together. I love her in the sun, in the rain, in the heat, in the cold, indoors, outdoors, well you get the picture. I indulge completely in life with my cherished one. I'm not waiting for my car to be middle aged and thinking what may have been. I have a trophy car and evidence of that fact.

Being serious for a moment, the cars I've tried to protect by hardly using them have lasted fewer years than the cars I've ignored completely. My car is my mid life crisis chemo, my fountain of youth and kicks butt legally at the track at every opportunity.

Les

Keeping the car perfect is a waste of time and mone for the idle rich who need braggin' rights. Keeping it perfect while you just age and decay is a silly waste of life.

Put it on blocks in the garge or drive it.

That's what sports cars are for.

About the same up here. However, at my age, I plan on living right here rent free until until I find myself on the wrong side of the grass. Home values for me mean little at this stage of my life.

Being neither idle nor rich I can't speak for those folks but I do find that attempting to keep a car as near perfect as possible is time well spent. And Frank, rather than wasting money It actually SAVES money. Judging from the photo you have posted, well I guess you must know something about age and decay.
