Default Waste of a car

I found this up for auction..............it's a 2005 with less than 7,000 miles. The car wasted its life away in someones garage for 7 years and was smashed. Drive your cars people

I agree, I bought my car to drive. But on the other hand as I was told, I hope these low mileage cars are still around once mine is wore out and ready to be replaced! Leave them in the garage people, save them for someone else that can appreciate such a cool car to be driven

Dang that car is practically in my own back yard. It looks just like the one my Daughter just purchased. Who would leave such a great car parked for 7 years? Ooops.........never mind.

Why even own it? I guess some people would rather just look at a Crossfire instead of driving it. Mine is my daily driver with over 90K miles. Still love every moment behind the wheel.

Having recently been in a collision involving a Crossfire, and seeing this one, I've come to determine one thing: the passenger airbag is something you DEFINITELY want to turn off if you seldom have a rider.

When the passenger airbag pops, it will cost you an extra airbag (duh), plus the dash pad (which would otherwise be unharmed) and last but not least, your windshield. Many people thought we weren't buckled in when they saw the windshield on my car... but, it's simply from the airbag. The passenger airbag literally explodes up into the windshield... I see the exact same pattern on this white roadster.

With passenger airbag off, the only thing on the inside needing replacement would be the driver's airbag module...

It's a shame that such a low-mileage beauty got popped. Judging from the impact, this doesn't look like it hit another car? Almost appears to be "car vs. pole"...

AirBags are not designed to go of the seat is not occupied.

These airbags will go off even if there is no one in the seat. I know that for a fact.

Keep in mind we're borrowing seat technology from 2002 Mercedes-Benz... the occupancy sensors used in all vehicles today weren't widely implemented at that date. All Crossfire seats (except base models) use the AMG SLK seats... the only difference being the Alcantara covering in the SRT trim. Those seats were designed before 2002, as '02 was the launch of the AMG R170.

Modern technology (in Nissans, at least) is smart enough to determine if the weight in the passenger seat is a bag of groceries, child safety car-seat, or a small child. In those cases, airbag defaults to "off".

Sounds like an opportunity for Latemodel (Mr shfit paddels) to come up with the passenger seat / air bag off mod!

He might not be willing to take on that liability... If you miss a shift, no big deal... if the airbag fails to deploy when a passenger is in the seat, who knows what would happen?

We currently have the override in the passenger dash, and it works well as my passenger airbag stays off (light in console is illuminated) even with Kim in the seat. Clearly, we don't make that a practice while she's riding with me, but I do know that once the switch has been thrown, the passenger airbag indeed stays off.

The technology is there, it's just not very "smart" technology. We've come a long way in five years, let alone a decade.

beautiful car....I have an everyday, rock chip catcher, mud sligger, snow plowing, parking lot dent catcher, pot hole jumper that I drive. It is NOT a crossfire. These are hobby cars for me as I don't do anything else anymore...no golf, no skiing, no jumping out of airplanes, no flying airplanes, no boating, barefooting, no RVing, no shooting, well, not unless I have too, so, the cars are it. I have 25k on these cars, so they aren't getting driven anymore than I have too... Why the rant? Cause I know there are others, many others that love to keep there's for their hobbies as well.....low mileage, and enjoyable for a long, long time. That car probably saw a 1k a year, but it was 1k a year enjoyment for someone. Besides, I drive 100k a year as it is....not much time to drive the cars until play time...

OH MY GOSH! Please pass me the box of Kleenex...I feel a good cry coming on. This is so sad...only 6000 miles? Vanilla, with seats to match? Just sad I say!

I would guess that if the air bags inflate the crash was severe enough that I would want the insurance money, not a rebuilt car. Anything that jacked up the repair cost would be a plus.

That is really a shame. The owner must have been sick at the loss. But it doesn't change my mind to keep my roadster as a garage queen. While I understand the risk of getting hit by a crazy driver, I consider driving it a privileged.

This one is on my auction watch list, it might wind up in our inventory.
