Default Both Headlights At Same Time

Got in the car last night, both headlights were burned out. I've been reading on headlight postings but haven't come up with a possible problem. I'm concerned since I lost both headlights at the same time. Wouldn't want to replace both only to have them burn out again because of some problem. Could this be a weak battery problem? OEC battery in on my 2007.

Pull the sockets from each bulb and check for power.
Check each fuse.
Strange one this though, as I do not believe in coincidences like this either.

I'll definitely check the fuses, first thing.

ASSUME ing that the bulbs are both burnt out, then C H E C K the voltage with a cigarette lighter system voltage monitor. I keep harping on this, cause its SOOOOOOO inexpensive to monitor your charging system WHILE operating the car. Fuses only limit excessive current and are not for protection the lamp filaments. Well, you're probably right. Fuses are okay. High beam bulbs are okay.

I had this happen too. And as odd as I thought that it was, it was explained to me this way by a very knowledgeable mechanic - " Why would you think that it's odd? They're all made at the same time in the same factory with the same materials and the same tools. They're put in the same car at the same time and operate under the same conditions for the same length of time." I thought, well, duhhh. The technology and materials today really does standardize things much more than it did in the past, and this isn't uncommon at all. When one goes the other won't be far behind.
Replace them both and don't worry.

Lol..was just thinking.. aren't they both rated at the same "hour" life.. Change one at "half life"..then you have a spare and odds are at least one headlight.. And yeah.. my wife loves my wisdom too..

I rarely drive at night, so I guess my bulbs will last forever. :-)

I rarely do either and, if I do, it's only in town. I won't go out of town after dark for fear of hitting a deer and having to pray for parts.

Which is one of the reasons I was concerned. Don't use my lights that often.
