Is this true???
Year to Year Changes
I could not beleive this when I started reading it...no 2006?
2005 Chrysler Crossfire: A convertible debuted during 2004 as an early 2005 model, with a heated glass rear window and a power fabric top that stowed beneath a hard tonneau cover. Both coupe and convertible body styles now came in base, Limited, and SRT-6 form. Base and Limited versions kept the 215-hp V6 engine. Each SRT-6 model held a supercharged edition of that engine, which produced 330 horsepower. Only an automatic transmission with a manual shift gate was installed in SRT-6 Crossfires, but other models had a standard six-speed manual gearbox and an optional automatic. In addition to the stronger engine, each SRT-6 had a sport suspension, stationary (rather than power-up) rear spoiler, and unique interior/exterior trim. Leather upholstery was standard in Limited and SRT-6 Crossfires, which could also get an optional navigation system.
2006 Chrysler Crossfire: Crossfire skipped model-year 2006.
2007 Chrysler Crossfire: Crossfire returns for 2007 after skipping the 2006 model year. The high-performance SRT-6 model is no longer available. Curtain side airbags are unavailable, but driver and passenger knee airbags are added for '07.
2008 Chrysler Crossfire: The 2008 Chrysler Crossfire returned with no major changes for what Chrysler says is this sporty car's final model year.

All,
I dimly recall reading a Consumer Reports Automotive (I think) article that reported that
1. There was no 2006 model year production run.
2. That Daimler-Chrysler took the rather unconventional approach of auctioning off a sizeable backlog of 2005's on Overstock.com instead.
3. Check the plate in drivers door.

"06's were produced but, because of lagging US sales, none were supposed to be shipped here. owever, because of overalllagging sales and urguing inventory Chrysler did two things with the 2006 production inventory.
One, they put the car on the internet on "O" I believe this was the first and only time a production auto was listed on "O"
Second, they began an huge dealer incentive program offering as much as $12,000 per unit for the sale of post 2006 production cars.
My 2006 spent over one year on a limetsone gravel lot at it's Port of importation. I had to replace the etched windsheild which was not covered under warranty.
Whether 2006 models were produced in that year and not the fall of 2005 I cannot attest but.....
I spent 6 months looking for the one I wanted and got the same story from many of the sales reps I had contacted in my quest. I have no reason to doubt it and can only assume it to be true.

Appears the 2006 models were actually all built in 2006. VIN 052951
My 2005 roadster was built in 2nd half of December, 2005. The 20th if I remember correctly. Typically a build that late in the year would be sold as the next model year, 2006.
