Default Crossfire or BMW Z4

Hi iam in the uk and iam looking at buying a cross fire convertable I've been doing research and reveiws and the crossfire seems to be a good car.
I've joined the forum today and hoping to get some extra info from people that own them : ) I've looked at a few posts that are roof related and it's putting me off a little the reason is I have a E36 BMW M3 cabriolet on a 1993 plate and all the years I've owned it I've never had a problem with the roof I do understand there's a bit more going on with the crossfire roof but I don't want to buy a car that's going to give me stress everytime I want to drop the top.
some people can have a car and no faults but iam looking to find out what are really the common faults for this model all round as my BMW reliability has been amazing and naturally as a BMW fan I would go for the. Z4 3.0l but I really like the crossfire and iam ready to buy........
most issues with the Z4 is comfort on long journeys and I know this a I owned a Z3 as a second car but had to sell it for this reason I've not test drived a z4 as yet but from reveiws it's comfortable for long journeys and the crossfire people say 200+ miles journeys and the crossfire is a comfortable car to drive and for passenger?
any help would be so greatfull on common faults anywhere on the car and what to look for problem wise for this car.
Many thanks and I hope to join the crew with my crossfire if all weighs out : )

Many will disagree but I'm going to say the Z4 is going to handle better than the crossfire, but the Crossfire will definitely get you more looks. The Z4 is a very common car around here (TN) and I would assume it's even more common over in the UK.

I can't comment on the comfort of the Z4 but the Crossfire was comfortable for awhile on long trips. My biggest complaint was the arm rests. Both would eventually get a dimple in them where your elbow rest and eventually my elbow would get bruised in that spot. This was only uncomfortable on extremely long road trips (400 + miles).

Roof concerns are in the back glass area, but I believe Chrysler is recalling the tops of most of the cars. I don't think I've read anything about people having hydraulic issues.

Either car would be a great car to own and if I had to lean in one direction it would probably be the Z4. I'll get a lot of hate, but I no longer need to stand out in a crowd and I personally think the Z4 is a prettier car than the Crossfire roadster. That's personal taste though and everyone is different.

I swapped my BMW Z4 for my now Xfire because I have been having probs with my left leg and the Z4 clutch was a tad heavy for me but honestly wish I still had the Z4.
It was a 3.0 litre manual and was much more fun to drive, but I do like autos and the Xfire is a nice drive too.
I never had an probs with the driving position in the Z4 and was comfortable on a run.
They do have their problems as does any car, i.e roof motor can suddenly stop working because of water ingress, suspension springs break but thats not a big issue, its an excuse to put lowered springs on but that does make the ride somewhat harsh.
I never had any issues apart from the springs in 2 years of ownership.
I got more looks in the Z4 than I do in the Xfire.

Have a browse through the Z4 forum, I'm still a member on there.

Go for the Z-4. Crossfire parts are murder to get in the UK if they can get them at all. At least with the BMW you'll be able to get it serviced.

At one point I considered trading in my crossfire for a Z4... that is until the BMW sales person offended my crossfire by saying "are you looking to upgrade out of a chrysler". It was the first words out of his mouth before I said one word. I told him my Chrysler was the best German car money could buy and walked out.
