Default Weaterstrippng...HELP!

I'm needing the weatherstripping that goes from the top-rear of the side windows down the back of the windows and around the bottom-rear of the the convertible top.

Chrysler wants $325 for the part that should cost $150.

Is it available for less thrugh MB?

Can it be ordered direct through Karmann?

Is it part of the warranty extention for the tops through Chrysler?

I'm not finding it in the aftermarket.

Thx.

If it's part #05175434AA then I can only find it for $610. List price is over $800.
There are two part numbers for this, depending on the year it was made.
05142212AA Up to 01/14/05
05175434AA From 01/15/05

See this diagram in the 2005 parts list - Convertible Top & Weatherstrips - 27 Body Figure SZH-1115

Give me a couple hours - I bought one for under $100.00 and I think he had more. Will find the ebay seller - he is really good to deal with.

That's it. $81 shipped.

I wonder if we should be using some kind of conditioner on weatherstrips to keep them from drying out. It's a pain in the butt when they fail.

Here is the link - he has a few things for convertable tops and some "Karmann Classic" T-shirts. I bought the T-shirts even though they have a small karmann ghia on the sleeve - looks good and gets the conversation going. Good prices and a good guy (no relation to me just a good seller)

I dealt with this guy for a switch and was very good to buy from but don't pay full price make an offer. The switch I bought from him went for $39.00 and I offered him $29.00 and he said OK. The money I saved paid for the shipping.

Anyone have any advice about how to maintain this weather strip? I have an '08, and I already notice 'sun damage' (that's what the parts place called it) and I would like to prevent any further damage. Is this a Mopar product issue as in buy it? Thanks for any feedback.

Alicia,

Go down into the forum areas "Detail Shop" and "Exterior"... some time ago, someone was posting about this and said they'd found something to restore and protect the weatherstrip. I have searched and I can't find it, but I know we talked about it.

This was maybe a year or more ago.

Mine is looking like it needs attention as well... one of us will find it, if no one else chimes in.

The body shop wants $450 to replace the weatherstrip.
They say they have to remove the top to install it and don't know how long it will take.

Has anyone done this? It looks like it can be done with the top on, but what do I know?
