Default Build #

I have been noticing in the posting everyone has a build #. How do you go about finding out what number your car is. I just bought one a couple a of weeks ago. I looked on my sticker and found nothing?

Can anyone help this new Crossfire Roadster owner?

It's the last six digits of your VIN. The plate with the VIN is seen from the
outside of the car in the lower corner of the windshield on the drivers side.

The build number is the sequence of the car according to the guy at DC meaning if the build # 100000, then that is 100000 car of that type made for that year. I do know how accurate that is, other than the fact it cam from DC.

the last 6 digits of the vin do not provide information on how many crossfires were made in a given year. however, the 10th digit in the vin does specify the year. a "4" represents a 2004 model and a "5" is a 2005. crossfires have been numbered sequentially since inception. so somewhere around 025000, the 10th digit switched from 4 to 5 signifying the model year change. unless they make more than 1 million of them, the numbering should continue sequentially.

crossfirechick, based on your vin# your roadster would be considered to be a relatively early 2005 production year model. #027652 is neither good nor bad, but at least it is unique.

RANCHR and I probably have the highest numbers, mine at 041236 and RANCHR's at 043820. Mine shipped on 8/30 and I don't think RANCHR's has shipped yet.

Lee it does kind of make sense that the they sequentially number them as they are built, whether it is for that model year or not. It would mean, in theory, that you car is 41,236 crossfire built and mine is the 43,820. Considering yours was made atleast 1 + months ahead of mine. That would mean that 1600 cars were built between ours (includes coupe, roasters, sr-6). Does that make sense?

Just called DC, car built and out of factory. Build #44612. What is the procedure to track it from the factory to the states? Is return calls to DC the only way. What is "normal" transit time from Germany to Baltimore? Thanks for any info.

Skillywee, the actual sailing time from Germany to Maryland is four days. As soon as it gets to Maryland and they unload the car, an invoice is sent to the dealer and you can track it again. My dealer said that the last car he ordered arrived three days after he received the invoice. I think the longest time in the shipping/delivery process is getting thru Customs, etc. and on to the ship in Germany.
