dash code I don't recognize
dash code I don't recognize
Hi,
I am a new Crossfire owner and love this car and am trying to learn all the ins and outs of it.
I have a code that is showing up, briefly when I start the car, started 4 days ago. It comes up instead of the mileage. It looks like a cursive L with a cross like a little t through it, or possibly like someone running. But it doesn't look like a wrench. It started with -100 after it then -200, -300, -400 and now 500. Possibly the numbers mean mileage?
I called the dealer in Everett Wa. and they said " well the car is 10 years old and we don't support it in our system any more, but you can bring it in and we will hook it up to a diagnostic machine for $150 to $250 to figure it out. Can't believe they wont simply tell me what the symbol means with out charging me a lot of money.
I have tried to find information on the internet too with no luck. I am just not able to find this symbol anywhere.
Hope some one here can help me, I just want to take good care of my car with out being taken advantage of.
Thanks

The owner's book has two full pages of symbols displayed. Do you have an owner's manual?
Check it out. My car is iin my storage locker for the day, but I will check tonight, when i get it home.

Here is the procedure to reset back to 7000 to start a new countdown until the next service / oil change
RESETTING THE FSS MAINTENANCE INDICATOR AFTER AN OIL CHANGE
1) Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
2) Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second
The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds
3) During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed
4) Press the reset button for the trip odometer and
hold
5) Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6) Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display
The tool symbol should disappear at this time

Then STAY AWAY from the Stealerships! You've come to the right place for expert advice (not necessarily from me ) and assistance.
