I have a 'remote' radar detector from my last car. I want to install it in my crossfire convertible. I have gotten it installed behind the grill and the wires into the engine bay.
Can someone with the same issue give me some information as to how and where to get the wire to the display into the cabin? I believe there is enough lead to route it under the car thru the trunk area if necessary.
The engine bay is well sealed off from the cabin.

Depending on where you are going with the wires (to the passenger footwell or the dash area), I like to bring wires in through the fuse box (on the driver's side of the engine compartment) or through the box (next to the battery) with the ECU/body control module (and K40). Both of these boxes have large opening directly into the cabin and multiple choices for where you and bring the wires (from the engine compartment side) into them.

Well, for others, who will want to install a remote something and control it inside the cabin. Here is my story and experience. As Mr Miata offered.
Pull the battery
Pull the battery tray
pull down the carpeting on the passenger side fre wall.
set aside the thick styrofoam insulating block beneath.
Undo the screws holding the underlying panel and (taking care) fold it back out of the way
Reach up and to the right and find the round rubber plug it has one wire passing through it.
This is the plug which will permit passing through the firewall, a wire of considerable size after relieving a suitable size hole in the plug to accommodate it.

Now it is important to note, the panel which is layed over has considerable wiring and parts afixed, so care must be taken, when removing and replacing, so that damage or disturbance to these does not happen. The care taken will be rewarded when stuff still works after the install is complete.
