Default How many 2006 roadsters here?

We just bought a 2006 XF limited roadster. 48K but looks like it was used a little bit hard. Needs some TLC (on the interior stuff). I'm trying to learn as much as possible and be proactive about potential problems. I can't tell that there is anything different in the 2006 production than the 2005, is that correct?

There seem to be a lot of 2005s, does anyone know how many 2006 roadsters were produced? If you are a 2006 owner, please chime in here
thanks!

2006 models were held back for a year because of low sales. 2005 Chrysler anticipated higher volumes but the car was, by then, a B@strd child.

The 2006 is the only car with the distinction of being listed on "O" for bids.

I have a 2006 bought in January, 2008 when Chrysler held a big selloff adding huge discounts. For the record, there is virtually no difference in the models from 2004 to and thru 2008. 2004 has the special rear view mirror and the letters on the boot lid are mounted lower.

The Crossfire is a Red headed stepchild of two divorced parents. Despite this it has a great pedigree. The two seater halo car may say Chrysler on the title and the body. But, it is ALL Daimler Mercedes under that slick Karman manufactured skin. Enjoy this very special little car.

BTW the 2005 roadsters had a problem with the rear window. 2006 did not.

Wife has an 05 Aero blue/ vanilla interior and I have it's twin 06 model. Can't say I've noticed anything at all of a difference between them.. other than mine's faster..

You need to explain this to my 06 roadster with the window waiting for me to glue back in..

And quietly so the 05 doesn't feel it's time to give it up.. LOL

What does this mean? Also, is it called a halo car because of the shape of the roll bar? I wish I had one from the beginning, I would have taken such better care of it.

Thanks for the help, I'm sure it won't be the last time

So it's been confirmed then that the rear window malady exits , but it's not catching?

I think you mean "exists", not "exits", right ?

Beg to differ with #2 but there are interior changes to the '07 and '08 mainly the addition of knee air bags but also some panel differences.

Result is it is not just a pain to change dash panel lights, it is a royal pain.

Also the service manual is not a single .pdf but on a CD with 12,717 files in 36 folders.

"O" is a discount bid site for discontinued merchandise.

A "Halo" car are special models produced to provide and injection of new interest in a brand. The Plymouth Prowler , the Corvette, the Dodge Viper.

As for the "Roll Bars" keep in mind they are decorative and not actual approved "roll Bars"

You always "beg to differ" but the cars are essentially the same. Period!

"Essentially" an obsolete Merc, agree.

Will admit to having a non-traditional outlook, spent five years in Anderson and Flint working for a major car company (then fighting to avoid antitrust charges and worried about selling too many cars), left when not allowed to transfer to Advanced Engineering in Warren.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy cars that are not necessarily popular (had several Vegas and an Astre plus a Sunbird with a SBC shoehorned in the nose by the factory (won a lot of autocrosses with that car and would run with the Porsches. They did not like that. Also broke everything possible to break and some things not considered possible. Had to check the front wheels for cracks after every run)).

So I am enjoying the heck out of my Crossie and fixing the deficiencies as I go. Got a bit too much sun over the weekend so driving the coupe now. Is possible there is a Pentastar in its future but not yet. Don't think I've ever had a car that stayed stock for long and that includes the Judge (15x8 wheels WS6, 442 suspension, T/A steering box is much nicer).

Guess I only joke about cars that are liked, others I just ignore (but still would find either a Studillac or a Facel Vega hard to pass up...)

Had a friend back in the 60's with one. He had somehow put Jag knockoff wire wheels on it.

The only modern production car of which I am aware that possibly had fewer differences year to year would be the Volkswagen Beetle. Not since Ford's "T" has the car remained so "essentially" the same for five years of Production.

Being built on the same chassis is not "essentially" the same.

A good many parts and assemblies of the 320SLK yes, much like the '75-79 Olds Starfire/Buick /Pontiac/Monza was essentially a refurbished Chevy Vega design. However, in the 75 to 79 models,,,,only minor changes unnoticeable in terms of use, wear, foibles, maintenance and looks. The question asked of the OP.

Okay, I'm done showin' off.

A big difference between 2004 and later is that 2004 were coupes only. And, of course, that self-dimming mirror in the 2004s. The engines and drivetrain were identical for all practical purposes. 2005 and later offered the Limited and the 'verts. And, of course, the SRT6.

My son's 2007 has a dead pedal that is absent from my two 2005s.

I would love a dead pedal. Since ours is an automatic, I drive with my left knee bent. My legs are too short to reach the front comfortably, but my 6'2" son in law loves it.
