Hi,
Bought car 3 weeks ago and its been good as gold, actually enjoying it 2004 crossfire convertible 3.2
Drove home from work yesterday no problems. Came out just now to do all my Xmas shopping and it won't even try and turn over, battery seams good nothing dims when try and start it, no click no noise its as if the acc to the starter has come off, but the car is stone cold and the engine fans come on with ignition ???

Tried both keys, same

It has been raining for days now...

Any help appreciated before I have to spend Xmas under the hood,,,

Cheers

1. try the RCM resolder ( search "Mystery No Start" )
2. can you borrow an RCM from another owner close by to try ?
3. try a new battery. ( or same friend's battery )

One guy here on the forum found a bad wire running from the PTCM to the pulse module, that was really strange.

Thanks for quick reply
Its finally stopped raining so I'm going to try a jump start in case the battery is damaged then investigate, also the spoiler came up on its own with just the ignition on. It's done that before also?

The spoiler popping up on it's own is a classic sign of a battery on it's way out.

Thanks again, just checked that thread and looks the same or similar to the SLK relay dry joint issues,

Cheers

Sorted, battery voltage good but cell failing under load. Replaced and all good,
Spoiler doesn't have a mind of its own now too.

Many thanks and happy Xmas

You had help from the best, in your initial post you forgot to mention the spoiler raising and that was a pretty good sign of a battery failure. It is best to mention all of the symptoms as you could miss the most important one as happened in this case.
One symptom of yours pointed to one problem and both symptoms pointed to another which was the real problem.
The use of both keys would not have proved anything, unless you had another problem entirely, the symptoms you had did not point to that problem.

Old thread but this may help when someone does a search for these symptoms.
The symptom of no start and cooling fans running is the engine control relay in the RCM.
Contact me via email if you need help.

Hi Tighed,
I've been having that issue with driving and the car would just stall.. Then I would try and start the car again thereafter and there was nothing.. Starter not engaging and the fan would go on if I would leave the key in the on position.. Wait 5 or 10 or 15 minutes and then the starter would engage again and good to go for a while.. Til it would just shutoff again etc.. I'm just worried it won't start up at some point at all and will be stranded somewhere... I've soldered the Rcm but didn't see any solder joints that were bad.. I also changed the crank position sensor yesterday too.. Haven't gone out for a spin with it since as I am now putting in my CAI..
I've read that this symptom could also be the crank sensor? Is this correct or is it definitely the engine control relay in the Rcm?
If so which is the engine control relay in the bank of relays in the RCM?
Thanks in advance.
