Under da hood
Re: Under da hood
Kamilspider, If you are using the MB PN 1120900501 air cleaner on a stock NA XF. The OEM inlet tubes fit the air cleaner. The only time there would be a problem is if you do the throttle body mod then you would not be using this air cleaner. This air cleaner is a perfect fit.
Edit
OK, I got the numbers mixed up, the 112 090 05 01 is the one for the SLK320 and will fit with the OEM inlet tubes. It is a one piece air box.
Kamilspider was talking about 112 090 11 01, it is a two piece air box I believe, I do not think it will fit because it is too thick and it rubs on the hood liner. The tubes might fit inside the inlets on the air box.
I think I took two of these boxes complete with the nose pieces to the town dump because vendors kept sending the wrong part, they thought as they looked alike they were the correct part, the parts they sent were too thick and the wrong part number. I had all these parts lying around as they said to keep the wrong part and they would send the correct part, but again I got the wrong part. I kept at it until they sent the correct part. Different vendors were supplying the nose and main body.
The 112 090 10 01 will fit and needs larger inlet tubes but the OEM Crossfire ones will fit inside rather than outside the air box inlets. It too is a two piece air box.
Even the OEM air box rubs on the hood liner slightly, so thicker really rubs hard.

Re: Under da hood
I am getting confused with these numbers this is the correct box for use with the larger throttle body mod, it requires the larger air inlet pipes to fit on the outside of the box inlets.
I should read what I have previously written rather than rely on my memory for numbers.

Re: Under da hood
See my posts #4 and #8.
I have the MB PN 1120900501 cover.
It came from the source in post #8 with 2 new A1120940304
filters already installed.
100% plug and play.
By the way...the description of the cover does not mention that it
comes with filters installed. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it did.
It made the $72.57 plus shipping a good deal.

The Ghost is a fellow South Carolinian about 100 miles from me.
What? No pilgrims in your yard yet?
Re: Under da hood
This is my 1120900501 MB cover with the original Crossfire pipes fitted over the cover just
like on the Crossfire cover. Your photo of the original cover has the pipes fitted over the
cover openings. Has someone modified the intake pipes?

Re: Under da hood
Thank you.
The car has only 7,450 miles on it. Oil filter cover is original. It still has the factory
paint mark on it.
Everything is OEM except for the MB engine cover that I put on after purchase from
the original owner in January 2015. I think the MB cover looks better.

Re: Under da hood
I was under the impression that we had the same one.
If I remember correctly there are threads on here that talk about the larger pipes.
You may have to modify the new pipes a little to get them through the radiator firewall.
Best of luck with your project. Enjoy the car!
Re: Under da hood
That is not true, the cover fits the MAF housing and it fits the OEM one or the 74mm one no problem. The part number you give is the SLK320 housing and if you are going to change the TB and MAF housing some time the cover he has is the correct one.
Re: Under da hood
Everybody who have engine cover mod from Mercedes (bigger cover, especially A112 090 11 01) should check fuel line becouse new cover touch fuel line and after long time can damge it (this is big risk of fire).

Re: Under da hood
Y'all,
Mercedes Benz Direct Parts has the 112-090-05-01 cover (with two air filters installed) on sale for $76.23 plus shipping.
https://www.mbdirectparts.com/oem-pa...ner-1120900501
Mine came to Pensacola, FL in 2 days for $18.00 via UPS.
A stated in above posts, it is a direct swap for the stock cover. Pull off the old, pop on the new.
With Andrew's Crossfire labels, "Chrysler" no longer appears on Silver Bullet II.
Cheers
