Hello all,
I just purchased an 05 Crossfire Limited roadster six speed, and have fallen in love with the car. Regarding the drop in price, my cousin works for a local Chrysler dealership and told me the car was going to be discontinued. Not sure when, but it is soon enough for chrysler to stop the training he was under going on Crossfire repair. You see, he is an ASE master tech who works mainly on Vipers, Prowlers, and Mopars other "exotics." While shopping, I looked at the SLK 350, Porsche Boxter, and the new C6 vette. Since I have owned 5 Corvettes, still have a 2001, I went with the Crossfire. The car has the Mercedes build with an exotic American look--couldn't resist;-) I have yet to see another on the road, unlike my Corvettes. I am planning my mods now, only had the car 3 weeks, but I think I'll start with the K&N filters, door sills, and may be Borlas if I can find a muffler without round tips... I like the stock tips, may have to modify the Borla muffler some... Could any of you recommend some sites devoted to the Crossfire (i.e. Mods, production numbers, catalogs to order from, etc). I am used to picking up an Eckler's or Mid-America book and ordering whatever I wanted for my Vettes...
Regards,
Jason

I'll try to get a pic up ASAP,
Jason,

Jason,
I see '04 Crossfire coupe(s) on Ebay, with less than 5000 miles for $19,700. Why buy new?
The professional automotive world must consider the cars to be about as desirable as a root canal.
Rarely do you see as few mass produced vehicles on the road as Crossfires. You do see, however,
many of the cars on dealership lots. Are these vehicles so flawed that manufacture will be discontinued after such a short (but possibly over-produced) run? I feel that the best feature the car has is exclusivity. Secondly, it has beautiful lines. What else? It cannot begin to compete with a 350Z, and shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as a Corvette. Would love to hear the views,
both pro and con, of other Crossfire owners/members. Thanks for this forum.

Sorry I meant HUGE. I find it hard to believe that DC has so poorly marketed this fine car. My friend the GM at Pasadena Chrysler said that DC has 1,500 X-Fires sitting around that dealers won't even take delivery on. I don't care that my lease on my roadster is based on a sale price 500 below MSRP. This is the best car I have ever had, and I have had all of them. I just enjoyed Easter Sunday on a Hook-Up with 5 other enthusiastic X-Fire owners ripping down Sunset Blvd. 99.9% of the driving world has no idea what a great car this is. That is what makes it worth having this vehicle.

In fact, today was the first time, while seated in my Crossfire, I saw another on the road and 4 in one day makes me think sales must be on the rise.
80 and sunny today, perfect day for drop top motoring!!!
Finally had a gorgeous weekend in NY and I got to take out my new Roadster for the first time since I've owned it. Up until this weekend I've seen 1-2 Roadsters on the road since they've come out. Within 1 hour Sunday (besides mine) I saw 3 black Roadsters all being driven by my clones (men in there 50's enjoying something they've worked very hard for). The car is amazing. Its luxurious, quick, extremely comfortable, absolutely beautiful and (other than this past Sunday) not something you see at every stoplight. Here on Long Island Vettes and Porsches are a dime a dozen. TT's and S2000's are nice but the Crossfire just seems to give you the most for the money, especially at what they're going for now. I think we've made an excellent choice. Who cares when they cancel production, we've already got ours. The S2000 is being discontinued also, does that make it any less a wonderful car? These cars are just under appreciated by the public and overproduced by the factory. I've owned them all also but this is a special car. Enjoy it.

About a month ago we put down a deposit on a Smart ForTwo cabrio to add to our collection of things we just don't need
I agree entirely, this is a very fine car, who cares if they stop production ? - well we would like to add a Roadster to our collection...
It is perfectly possible they will stop production , or maybe shift it to the US where it would be much cheaper to produce, they are currently having to contend with a 30% drop in the value of the dollar, so it makes sense to have over produced whilst the dollar was higher...
and yes we have 20000 miles on ours now... and we see a few more each week..
we also see a few more adverts....
I think that maybe the dealerships are losing their 5 star ratings and thus are unable to sell the car

This sounds a lot like the same story as the ISUZU VEHICROSS.....and a lot of my friends that own them can't get them repaired because Isuzu won't honor the warrantees anymore even on 2001 models. We got BIG problems if they aren't training ASE techs anymore.

Hello to you, Jason L., ChryslerInfo Center Mktng.Rep.,
I doubt that any of our members would deny your postings regarding any issues with our Crossfires, but I, most certainly, would not. Your vantage point is one which we, the consumers, cannot begin to approach and I am certain you could furnish significant information to our group if Mother Chrysler is so inclined. I posted a thread about a month ago inquiring why the few Xfires one sees, are on dealer's lots as opposed to the public roads. The original MSRP's were in the $36 grand range, and a current Chrysler TV commercial now quotes $29,970. The 2004 models, the same as their successors, will be hard pressed to recover $23,000, and wholesale prices are under $20,000. Would these indisputable facts assume that the cars were originally overpriced, or that
the vehicles are unacceptable to the general public? I realize that the Crossfire is a "niche" product,
but the unusually high depreciation would indicate that the car is sub-standard. I cannot see high
fuel prices as an issue at this juncture. Additionally, the introduction of the Pontiac Solstice is unlikely to help Crossfire sales in the near future. Is the Crossfire anticipated to be another Prowler?
Could you provide some enlightenment on this subject? Thanks, in advance.

Hi Jason,
We would be happy for you to join in the discussions...
I am not sure if mappel70 realizes that the $29970 car is not equipped with let me see.. fog lights, dimming rear view mirror, electric seats, leather seats, radio sensor tires, floor mats, Infiniti stereo system, and I'm sure other bits.. hence the reduction from around $34k..
We are about to buy another one, to add to our collection, why? - it is such fun to drive, its fairly priced, and not too many folks have figured out how good it really is!

Kit and Kat,
First of all I would like to congratulate you guy’s on your recent purchase. I love to hear the feed back from Crossfire owners. Don’t worry all you Crossfire enthusiasts it will continue production through the 06 year. If you visit mopar.com, there are numerous parts and accessories for your vehicles that you might find suitable to your needs.
Kit and Kat you also touched upon the price differences, features and options. Just to clarify any confusion, in 2004 the Crossfire was only introduced with one model. Where as, in 2005 it has 3 distinct models with various prices. Packages and options will vary between models. Mappel70, That might clarify any discrepancies between prices that some enthusiasts might find.

Hi Jason,
Actually we've had this car nearly a year, and added about 22k miles so far...we were planning on doing about 50k a year but, business slowed a tad...
We don't mind if you stop production, smile, makes it even more exclusive, some how I think the real issue is that not too many Americans are used to the idea that Chrysler could make a real fun quality sports car.. little do they know..!!!!
We have already found a roadster we would like to add...
We can honestly say that this is the first car we've owned where the "wow", what is it factor, goes on and on.. day after day....
Personally I think Mercedes and Chrysler should be complimented on a first class, piece of engineering.... and if the truth were known, you probably should have priced it higher than the SLK for the simple reason it is a better design.. we've had so many friends tell us they thought it would cost over 60k !!... perception is all in marketing!!
