Default what the H**** is going on. $6200 for this

With 49000 miles on it and in good shape .. I guess in this time in our history we will have to give all the cash back to anyone who wants to buy a crossfire.
I know the prices were going down but this is crazily unacceptable.. I will just put mine in a barn and let someone find it in 20 years. jim

Makes no sense. I believe you could walk into a dealership, and they would offer you a more.

Unbelievable! What happened to all of those articles saying the price was going up?

I sold a 1961 Corvette in 1972 for $2500.00. Most collectables go to the bottom before they go up. The Crossfire values have been pretty stable for the last ten years. By the way, I couldn't afford to buy my Corvette back today.

This is to be expected. This follows the same pricing trajectory as the Sunbeam Alpine vs. Sunbeam Tiger (ac cobra jr.). Alpine appx $7k, Tiger $125k.

SRT6 Roadsters are the cars with a "story" (amg) and scarcity.

The Hagerty price is a snap shoot. The price of anything depends on what someone is willing to pay. I purchased a 2005 SRT6 for $18,000 in December of 2023. I felt it was a fair price for a three-owner car with 28,000 miles on the odometer. The Carfax showed it had been a minor accident, but once I looked over the car it was in good shape. I looked at a lot of cars and had PPI done on them and decided a car that would need a lot of mechanical repair was not one that I would purchase. Over the years I have looked to purchase a lot of interesting cars, and have found that at different periods a car's value goes up and down due to the market. Look at the Porsche 944 they are all over the price range. Maintenance is key, as far as I am concerned, and if I want to take that work on.

I purchased the SRT6 to enjoy it, not as an investment. That is the question one has to ask themselves. I am sure that the money and time one puts into a car is never recovered, as the Mecum auction shows. But what price do you put on enjoyment?

The Audi S4 I own, I purchased because I loved the car and the power. I have it tuned to 440hp and love that car. I love the SRT6 because of its power and how it drives. As I loved the C6 Corvette, the Mazda Speed6, the Mercedes C300 4matic, the 1946 Chevy pickup, the 1950 Cadillac, the 1952 Buick Special, the Jaguar XJ6L, the 1984 Audi Coupe, the 1999 Audi A4, the 1988 Blazer S10, the Nissan Pathfinder, the Toyota 4 Runner, and my first car a 1975 Camaro LT. I can remember each one and how they made me feel and still, there are more that I wish I could afford to buy and maybe one day I will.

It’s a lot like a woman

If you bought a car because of the way it made you feel…….you are blessed

Driving is a highly subjective experience. Cars that look cool and unique have always been in the forefront, especially those with performance.
Many of us have been owners of some very collectible cars and remember well the enjoyment of those experiences and pride of ownership. (Not to mention bragging rights)

Thing is the top doesn't work. It can only be opened/closed manually and the FOBs do not open the doors. Owner used the blade key to get into the car.
Who ever bought it has some detective work, time and money to get it right, and it spent the first part of it's life north up in snow country.
So how much you you pay for it?

I tried to sell my son's 2007 limited coupe MT6 (in rare machine gray) with <13k miles in May 2021. I think Carvana offered me a laughable $3200. It went in a private sale for about $8k.

The value in any car is in what someone is willing to pay. Since neither of my Crossies is for sale, the market gyrations are meaningless. But it would be nice if value improved so I could drive a more valuable 20yo sports car instead of just a cool looking and performing car.

Wow. I bought Freya because in '07 when I was teaching there was no way I could afford a $42K car even though I absolutely loved the car. Fast forward to 2022, and the mileage was 17878, the price was $15K, much more affordable. She's my daily, but since I'm retired the driving is mostly around town with a couple longer drives each week. She's a great little cruiser, really trouble-free once we made up the deferred maintenance, new top, new tires, transmission service, oil change ... all other fluids and oil were changed by the dealer, so we changed the oil around 25K miles, I think. Next up is a modern radio and window tint.
Bought her in Phoenix, drove her home to Silver City. And, she's been a solid, fun drive. If the value goes up, great. If not, I'm driving one of my dream cars, loving the top down, and being grateful for the blessing.
