Default Performance Upgrades

I have about 3k miles on my roadster and am looking to get some more power. Has anyone dropped in the SRT-6 supercharger? The company I work for sells STARTECH but their camshaft kit only gives me 30 HP for $4k. Has anyone had any luck with an ECU upgrade/Chips/Re-mapping etc.? How can I get the most bang for my buck without compromising the longevity of the motor - existing warrenty? I appreciate the help.

Cool Re: Performance Upgrades

You can use the Chip of your choice for a little bump in HP. as mentioned on this forum, you cannot just drop the SRT6 Supercharger in our cars, there are other issues that have to be addressed. Renntech, Startech and Brabus are your only choices at present for performance mods and as you know they are expensive. If you search the forum you will find alot of posts on this subject.

Thanks for the help. How much power can you get from those Chips? Which company is the most reputable? Does it strain the motor a lot/violate warrenty?

I second for you to do a search since all this information has been posted before in detail which would probably answer all of these and future questions about the chips.

As for the warranty as with any aftermarket item, if that item leads to a malfunction that can be traced back to your modification, that item and/or parts directly related to your mod will be void from warranty coverage.

The cheapest upgrade I've seen for real performance is an SRT6 with 100 miles on it for $32k!

Personally, I'd take the manual transmission over the extra power...its just more fun for me.

It comes in the autostick and since M.B. time's for manual vs. autostick are within .1 to .2 seconds in difference...unless you just like the motion (no dirty joke intended)...there is not a noticeable performance advantage with a straight stick tranny in an M.B...

Sounds like you know your stuff respdoc. I think your right in regards to the transmission as well. I feel more married to the performance of the car when using the clutch and shifter. I just don't feel as integratred with an automatic tranny. But....in all honesty...if I could afford the SRT-6 I probably would have gotten it regardless of the autostick.

oh yeah, you are letting repsdoc and dan get off topic. the chips will not void your warranty unless it can be proven that it was the cause for your cars problem. but unless you have a great moral dilemma you could just get it flashed before you took it in for service and chrysler would never know. there is also a pulley kit available from evosport, which no one on this site has purchased yet. but it supposedly adds 9-13 hp, and here may be some headers coming out soon. people have also been installing mercedes v8 air boxes and say they make a performance difference. although similar to everything else, there is no data from dyno to prove any sort of increases.
