would you buy a cai if available
I've been kicking around the idea of putting together a cold air intake for our car since no one else seems to produce one. It would be a dual intake design like stock, except it would eliminate the stock air boxes and locate the k&n filters as far as possible from the engine. I was just wondering if I started producing these units, would anyone be interested? Let me know.

Considering that the stock system pulls its air from outside of the engine compartment I do not know how you are going to get 'colder' air. You may build something that allows for the ingestion of more air but my guess is that the temp will be higher if there is any change.
Well one of the main things i would like to change is the drastic necking down of the intake, near the back of the engine. It seems as though this would adversely effect airflow. Although a cooler air charge is also wanted, I don't think it is as much of an issue as a free flowing intake w/o any restrictions. Any other thoughts/concerns/critiques are welcomed. Thanks.
You can get the SL55 y-pipe to take care of the restriction you are referencing. Not as good as having one made with smooth silicone hosing but cheap and readily available.

You can order the SL55 y-pipe from an MB dealer or EvoSport. Realize that it will take a little work to make the SL55 y-pipe attach to the stock air boxes. The hoses are bigger than the stock airbox openings. I trimmed the stock y-pipe and used it as a spacer to make the SL55 y-pipe work.

BTW if you guys ever need a deep deal on OE or Mopar accessory stuff.. let me know. I do a 10% over cost to any of the group members that I am sorta associated with... and this forum now qualifies.
