Default Upgraded Limited to a SRT6

Hello, just joined in on this site, very interesting stuff in here. My name is Kevin and this is my second xfire, I really love the car, this was my first new car, and what a nightmare from the get go. As far as the dealerships go for fixing anything, from day one it had 2 scratched rims, drivers door speaker grille cracked, center vent corner looked like it was broke off, scratch on pass outside handle, and the rear chrysler emblem was scratched. I took it back to get all the stuff corrected and that's where the fun begun. Well lets just say after 4 times for a water leak, 2 new door panels, new headliner, new dash pad, new glove box assembly, instrument cluster, cat whisker, center console parts, mirror switch, the PCM controller fan 5 times, left side control arm and ball joint, rear deck lid splitting and then spoiler would not close, and I could go on. So after all that with my '04 coupe limited I thought it was time to upgrade to a SRT6, a virgin car that the dealer has not touched yet, there supposed to be factory trained? Where at the school of hackery, I really don't want them touching my car. I bought it on 06/09/06 and got it with tax, title, etc for $30,233.00. They are giving these cars away it listed out at $45,880.00 and what a difference between the 2 versions. Now I really love the xfire, if I can just keep it away from the hacks, but like recalls you have to take it to THEM. I am thinking of buying that contract where they pay you to do the repairs, but will have to check on that some more. Well enjoy your xfires and I am sure there will be more stuff in the future. Thanks for all the info so far keep it up, Kevin

Kevin,
Since you have owned both Limited and SRT-6 Crossfires, could you please make a list of the similarities and differences? Thank you!

AFAIK '04 coupe did not have a "limited" designation -- there was only one '04 model. Not a big deal, but just wanted to point that out.

Congrats on the new SRT6!

Thanks for letting me know that the crossfire was not a limited in '04, but thought there was a base model offered in '04 the ones without the silver colored window trim. I know that the roadster and srt6 came out for '05. The main differences between the 2 are in the engine, tranny, suspension, brakes and the seats. The SRT6 has more horsepower 330 vs. 215 compression ratio srt6 is 9.0:1 and the stock one is a 10.0:1. The brake system went from single piston to a dual piston caliper, all the rotors are vented vs. '04 solid ones in the rear, the engine which is supercharged and has a intercooler. And the suspension has firmer damping and stiffer spring ratios, also the seats are suede, less slipping on hard turns or hard braking vs. the regular leather seats. The steel accented parts went from high gloss to a low gloss finish causing less sun glare, the speedometer goes to 200 mph vs. 160 mph and the segments are different on the speedo. Also the tech has the SRT6 logo on it, seats feel a lot better, more support. Since I had back surgery, I had to use a pillow with the '04 and so far have not had to use one with the SRT6. The esp system was also tweaked allowing you to squawk the tires, where as the '04 did not unless you turned off the traction control. Also they added heated outside mirrors, a cabin filtering system, so that's about it that I know of for now. The two cars are the same in a lot of ways but the SRT6 has the street racing technology which makes it a lot better, but wish I would have gotten the SRT6 first but glad I waited for the prices to come down paid less for the SRT6 than the '04. Well I hope that this info helps you folks out some, this is why I joined, to get more info from other Xfire owners.

Thanks Kevin

Kevin,

What was the selling price on your SRT-6, NOT counting tax, title etc or your trade?

Keep in mind a dealerships are like barbers... some you just wouldn't let touch your hair... same with your car.

Look around for another dealership... talk to customers in the service department. And make sure at least 90% of them are happy with the service.

I did that after we bought our previous car which was a 2002 Chrysler Sebring GTC Convertible.

I will always go back to these guys for service as they will even let me watch from outside the bay if I wish and have gone the extra mile for me. (When I had a minor transaxle pan seal leak on the Sebring, the mechanic not only changed the seal and fluid, but threw in a new filter from his 'stash' and said not to mention it).

Hope that helps you...

When did you buy it though?

I know they are advertising SRT-6's at a local dealer here for $35,495. If that is their asking price, I could see them going down a bit. But not to 27k.

Man I wish C6's had that much play in the price.

Red face Re: Upgraded Limited to a SRT6

I can tell you exactly how I got to this number. The dealer is taking a $7,727.50 loss. There are rebates to get you to the figure you stated. It was timing and research. If you need assistance email me and I can assist.

I got it on 06/09/06, and yes they are taking big hits on these cars. The one I got was on the lot for over 500 days. Here in Michigan they have a coupe limiteds for $17,000, 6 speed. And the other dealer I was at, they were asking $29,900 for a SRT6. So yes the deals are out there. You may be able to get a employee choice number, but I can't give you one already used it on mine. GOOD LUCK. Kevin

So basically they traded you for about $11,000. How many miles on your car?

KingKub57,

Congrats on the car, however please note that the heated outside mirrors, low gloss interior finish on the silver painted plastic trim and the cabin air filtering system are part of the limited car as well not just the SRT-6. Also the 'limited' was available in '04. Also the base coupe was introduced in '05 alongside the SRT-6 and the convertible. The one feature that disappeared from the '04 vs '05 limited is the auto dimming interior rearview mirror.
