I just puchased a car cover that requires the removal of the radio antenna. Is the antenna easy to remove, I remember trying to hand turn it but it did not budge?

Use a wrench with masking tape on it... or what they call a 'fitting wrench'. These are designed to grab more than just 4 sides, they tend to grab about half of the 5th and 6th sides so as to really grip the fastener.

You can also get the special wrench for working with A&N fittings, these are softer so they won't mar the finish.

 

OK. I don't get it. Do you unscrew the antenna from the outside or do you untighten something from within the trunk? I need to cut the hole for my new car cover...

I have asked this before, but got no answers. Has anyone ever found a power antenna that would fit in the fender area? This way we would not have to remove it each time.

 

When you say unscrew from outside, do you mean just firmly grasp the round base and twist?
