Default Limited guy looking to upgrade to SRT. Have questions though

Does Srt6 come in Alabaster?

Can I replace fixed rear wing with Motorized wing from limited?

Can I transfer over my Eibach pro kit springs from my limited?

Will my limited front bumper replace the SRT front bumper? I have a startech front lip spoiler which IMO looks much better than the SRT front lip.

If so I will start looking for an Alabaster SRT very soon.

Thanks guys.

Hmmm that blows as white is my favorite color. Are they making new SRT6?

What about my other questions?

Yes you can change out the wings either way, but it is probably not worth the cost and the computer has to be updated to recognize that is now has one, most people want to replace the electronic one to the fixed one, because of the better looks.

You can transfer the springs, but you will loose performance the higher spring rate springs on the SRT6 are better than the Eibachs for the limited.

All you need for the SRT6 look on the front bumper is the added lower air dam. That is the only difference to the front fascia.

The SRT looks way to high for my tastes, it has to much wheel gap. I'll give up a little progressive spring travel for the much better look.

I think the SRT wing draws to much attention from police, plus its more stealth if I switch it. It is possible though right? dealer won't do it?

I don't like the SRT bumper at all, I like the Star Tech front spoiler much better so I was wondering if that would fit right over the SRT lip.

I'd consider a color change but only if I can do these three things.

I agree with you. The only thing I like better of the SRT6 is the engine performance.

Wouldn't it be more economical to sell your limited, and buy the SRT6, than modify to your likings?

MAYAman,

The real question you have to ask is...

"Is it worth it to ME to sell my Limited and do the mods to the SRT6?"

As people have stated, you can get the motorized rear spoiler, and replace the fixed one. Don't know how much a salvaged wing mechanism would cost or how much the dealer would charge to put it in. Also, the rear spoiler controls are in the body control module. If you had a module from a wrecked limited version, it should be able to recognize the wing. I don't know if that rear spoiler circuit wiring actually exists in the SRT6, so that would be one thing to look into before making your decision, because if it's not there.. you would have to run two wires for the motor and then the existing body control module might work. If the wiring is in place on the SRT6 (I can check that for you) then the body control module MAY work just fine. I'd have to put a meter or test light on the wires (assuming they are present) and see if the meter or test light come on at speed. Also you would be missing the manual controls for the rear spoiler and those would have to be installed also (there is a dummy switch location on the SRT6).

As to the spring rate and lowering... I would try and sell your Limited with your springs in it and then get a stiffer but lower kit for the SRT6. The rest of the suspension is already tuned pretty good shocks (dampers) and sway bars.

As to the front, I don't know anything about the StarTech unit you have. I would call StarTech and ask them. They should be able to help you out.

Good luck!

MAYAman, like you I'm really happy with the Alabaster paint job (especially with our cedar interior) but even though it never came on any SRT's, It's been discontinued all together.
I'd love to pick up an SRT-6 while there are still some brand new ones left, and they're giving such great deals on them, but I'd hate to get rid of my '04.
Plus I'd like to get an Aero Blue coupe, and my Wife wants a roadster.
Personally I think the easiest way to change over to the Limited spoiler would be to locate a complete "hatch" from a salvage yard, and simply "hot wire it" to something, and hook it up to a manually operated switch.
I know the SRT's are supposed to have a much stiffer suspension, but it makes me wonder if it's really that beneficial. Going strictly by the magazine results posted in Road & Track Oct. '05 issue,

...Skidpad, g...Slalom, mph...
'04 Coupe...0.89...69.6...
'05 SRT-6 roadster...0.84...67.6...

I know a Coupe is going to be stiffer, and the Roadster is going to weigh more, but I thought it was interesting results.

I think the Road & Track typesetter was on the bottle when they entered the data and switched them...

If you look at road and track skid pad article.
350z, boxster and srt6 skid pad was 90.
The big difference is 0-60
srt6 4.8 limited 7.2...
I have broken loose around a curve numerous times.
It's like a video game. Very controlled..
It all depends what you are looking for.
SRT6 worth the $$$. Especially I've heard of
new or slightly use (under 500 miles) going for
$31 to $34K. They only built approx 2,000 SRT6's...
Roadster about 930. Split out color, there were 4 colors.
You are looking at potentially 1 of 230. That is collector car
status, already... Give it a few years.
I have Aero Blue. I know of about 5 others, that's it...
Suspension is stiff but not jolting. Tire pressure can help that.
AZ road all rubberized. Very smooth. Huge difference...

The SRT6 handles really well... The stiffer suspension must have something to do with it...

Oldish thread, but I thought I'd add a bit... I believe that the motorized spoiler requires a different coupe trunk lid section assuming it is a "unit" that replaces the SRT6 directly... if you want it to sit flush like it is supposed to be. Gotta have room for the motor mechanism, wiring, and take out the SRT6 fixed wing... Sure sounds like a lot of work, and cost to have a lesser aerodynamic show piece. But hey, folks have done less with more $. I think the SRT6 fixed wing helps break up the boattail rear end a bit sort of the way the Infiniti G35 sport coupe has their nice looking rear wing to help give the *** end a bit of curvature rather than a drop off... It's a matter of choice though...

If you trade up, just work out the costs and figure out how much you want to spend to have it a "custom" SRT-6.
