Is the brake install any different on the SRT
Hi. I replaced the pads (front & rear) on my 2004 coupe by following the great & detailed instructions posted by Andrew and had no issues or problems. I have since upgraded to an SRT-6 and have new pads on order - and knowing the brakes on the SRT are different (mostly larger and vented rears)...
Is there any difference in installing pads on an SRT vs a non-SRT? If so, what is/are the difference(s) and/or tips?
Thanks in advance - (I searched for a similar question but couldn't locate it, so if previously asked & answered, sorry).

Based on my lack of responses from my first post...I just finished replacing/changing the brake pads on my SRT 6 (it has 800 miles on it) and will therefore submit an answer to my own question in case anyone else was curious (probably not).
I had already swapped pads on a 2004 coupe and assumed it would be very similar to replacing pads on my "new" SRT-6...it was with two (2) noted differences; 1) The front caliper slide pins are Torx heads and not allen heads as were on my 2004 coupe (so you'll need a torx socket - size T40); and, 2) the rears have two (2) retaining clips in lieu of one...everything else is just like the step by step instructions posted by Andrew.
Also, I replaced my stock pads with EBC Red Stuff ceramics. First test drive was noise free and I did not notice any difference in performance. Plus the red shoes look distinctive (to me...IMO). Also I am posting (with a pic) in a separate thread that I found a "chunk" missing from my left front outboard pad...as I mentioned only 800 miles on the car...I assume an isolated incident.

I have rotex pads on order - thanks for the great info and enjoy the ride.
BTW - did you consider painting your calipers. I also owned a Limited and the calipers were stock silver and looked great. But my stock SRT calipers are black and always look like there dirty.

Actually I am debating whether to paint the calipers...I never thought much about it until the Red Stuff shoes jump out...bottom line is yes, I am thinking about it.
I am interested as well. Thanks for the heads up.
I don't know anything about the various choices, but why did you decide to go with EBC pads? For me, the huge issue is brake dust.

I was looking for the lowest possible brake dust as well, and alot of forum members like the Rotex. I previously had put Akebono ceramics on my 2004 coupe and saw extremely low dust and wanted the performance of ceramic so I went with the EBC Red stuff. I would have went back to Akebono, but they don't make a pad (apparently or that I could find) for the SRT. So far (about 150 miles) there seems to be virtually no dust - so it seems to have accomplished my goal and I think they were a little cheaper than Rotex's ($92 for front and $68 for rear).
