Default Possibly losing my SRT6

Today i got in the mail that my insurance policy has been terminated. Just the thing i wanted to see especially since i only had it for 3 weeks now. Apparently they found my speeding ticket violation that happened in december, figures they find out when i've already gotten majorly attached to the xfire. Was paying about $250 a month and had other quotes that were saying around $800 - $900 bucks which is ridiculous. Although i am only 19 i knew i would get raped in insurance. Guess i'm going to have to shop around but i hope i don't lose my xfire. Its truly an amazing vehicle!!!

Ahhh...It's nice getting old. I only pay $550 per year with top coverage, and a top rated insurance company.

Sorry to hear this is happening to you.

WOW!!! Only 19, you must have been busy to have insurance that high. God Help you if you ever want an SRT-4 or Mustang GT. Hell one of the reasons I bought an SRT-6 was because the insurance was half as much as the SRT-4. I pay $800 a year with Geico, and I have a Speeding ticket and a couple of comprehensive claim recently...

Yeah i don't understand it...I've only had 1 ticket and thats it. Can't believe that's all it takes you know. I just think the insurance companies are mis-treating me. Tomorrow i'm going to call around and see what i can get.

i believe the insurance company has the right (at anytime) to cancel your/a policy at their discretion.

this sucks ... but they obviously feel you are too high of a risk.

I would think that even with a clean record a 19 year old driving a 330 HP 2 seater is going to have to reach into his pockets to buy insurance. I'm with FP on the age thing...I pay $1,200/yr to insure three cars with full coverage. But I only found that price after a LOT of shopping around. Just because an insurance company offers a good deal to one age group/geographic location/driving record doesn't mean they'll be good for all. Shop a lot, then shop some more. Then keep shopping.

insurance companies also use your credit score to calculate your rate. at 19 you probably don't have much credit and that'll affect the rate.

i used to work at Progressive...too many people buy a car before they realize they can't afford the insurance. bet you won't make that mistake again.

Liberty Mutual was the company that cancelled me. And your right I am at high risk, young, only some credit established and buying a sports car. All negative factors when it comes to insurance lol. Trust me though it will take a lot to make me get rid of my xfire...I'm sure a lot of you feel me on that statement.

19 and little credit history = high insurance rates. Good luck finding something better. 25 Years from now you can look back and laugh about it. I hope things work out for you and that you can keep the XF. Sometimes it just pays to be old... LOL!

Lol thanks i appreciate it. In a way your right, being old pays off, but being young = less bills? In my case i have none except recently for the Xfire. We'll say its 50/50 haha.

Its about where you live, your age and the kind of car you drive... I live in Chicago, 26, and I have All-State... I pay $1,200 every 6 months... Hell, I also have a 2008 Lancer, and 2001 Neon, and my home combined is less them the SRT6. There were a couple of other companies out there that were less, but I've dealt with All-State before, and I know that if anything was to ever go bad, they would be there for me thru and thru.

I'm just glad that I paid my car off and only have to worry about insurance prices.

Cool Re: Possibly losing my SRT6

Yes in this case it does pay to be old and have a good FICO score (800+ the Wife 800+), 3 cars, 2 homes all covered under Allstate and I pay $3,200 a year for everything. I have had only 1 speeding ticket (or should I say I have only been caught once) in 30+ years of driving and only 1 insurance claim.

Yeah i was doing some research and found the same quote you mentioned. Sadly i live in Pennsylvania where it is known to have the worst insurance rates around. On a lighter note i contacted my agent today and he actually had some good news for me. Good chance im going to be approved with another policy and possibly be paying around the same amount or even LESS!!! Still in the fog though not sure what is to happen, going to meet with him this friday.

If you can believe this, my insurance is higher on my Infiniti G35 coupe than my XF SRT-6 Roadster. About $800 a year on the XF. I have a reckless driving charge and improper lane change in the last 3 years on my driving record!! Got both tickets in the same day from a cop that p.o.'d!! Long story.

Well, I know Where I live in VA, that insurance is pretty cheap. If you have a GOOD agent that has access to many different companies, then I would have to think that he would be able to find a something for you.

On another note, I guess this experience will help to keep you a safe driver, as you can see how readily a company will drop you like a rock.

The funny thing is, I have Geico and I checked for the Limited and SRT-6 and there was NO DIFFERENCE. I guess they haven't seen enough SRT-6s to know the difference. I tried 5 difference online quotes and they ranged ALL OVER THE PLACE. Obviously, the Brit Lizard was the cheapest for me. I had been with Progressive for 8 years, and they still wanted DOUBLE what Geico is charging me.
