Performance exhaust for SRT6

For those the have removed the resonator, did you use stainless or aluminized tubing?
If you look at the pictures at slk32.com you can see he used steel tubing and a fabed a y-pipe and painted the whole addition silver.
Plus he went single exhaust way back at the cats, I plan staying dual up to where the resonator is mounted.
Not the route I want to go. I would prefer to use this:

After you remove the resonator the sound of the stock muffler will come out... and chances are you will like it... but if just removing the reso will not be enough you can always mess with the cats... we got to many of them anyways...
How does removing the resonator really sound? Good enough for most? I'm just looking for a slightly louder exhaust sound, nothing crazy, just more like a sports car than a cruiser. Also, can it be replaced with just a straight section? Will it effect smog certification?

Did the resonator removal on my SRT6 and it sounds great when driving it hard but it is just "too boomy" for me in easy in-town driving. So I'm looking for another solution now.
Maybe I am just getting too old, but I think the stock (AMG $1,500) exhaust setup sounds good to me.
Quiet when you want it to be and a nice "growl" when you "accidentally" put your foot in it!

This would be the best look after the resonator delete for a custom performance exhaust.

that's the beauty.. and that is what I am talking about... DO IT...
the thing is would the heat shields have to be moved... also since those tips dont roll into a tube at the end how would they be attached to the pipe?

The price is also heftier with the trim included. $1,295 plus shipping and duty (if applicable).

You would have to trim the lip from your current bumper, alter the heat shield around the new tips, Paint the new trim and install and put on the new tips. It appears you will have to fabricate something to allow the tips to fit the exhaust pipes because the shape is the same trapezoid at both ends.

Will it be true dual from the 2nd set of cats back?
I was going to get with an exhaust guy and have them make a SS true dual system, but maybe I should wait on yours. Hmmm.

Magnaflow makes an excellent stainless Y for removing our resonators. Part No. 10778. List for $66.56 but I got mine from 4wheelparts.com for $25.99. Openings are 2.5" Dual Inlet I.D. with a 3" Single Outlet I.D. Total length is 10". Keep it in the road!!
