Default Performance upgrades...

Hello everyone -

I have done some research and extensive reading on this site and I am still having a hard time finding which company is best for upgrading the computer.

renntech and powerchip and upsolute are some suggestions I have read/heard. Any suggestions as to which has had the best results?

I would like to do performance upgrades in steps and I was told to start with the computer chip for the SRT-6 because most of the equipment is already 'top notch'.

I also read somewhere that you can change out the pulley's and get alittle extra hp?

Hm... seems you have not researched enough, but it is ok.. I'll refresh... the subject for you...

First of doing a chip on an SRT-6 without a pulley is simply not enough and your gains will be barely felt... it is best done when in combination with a pulley upgrade and maybe even an sl55 intake pipes..

With these upgrades you should be over 400 hp.

there are numerous tuners that do it...
You can purchase the ASP pulleys for $900 + an ECU tune by powerchip for about the same price... this will be your cheapest way to achieve results, but I would not go this route as the companies are not all to reputable, yet I know many c32 and slk32 owners that have went this way... I would not take this route as your further upgrades the ecu will not be tuned for...

You can purchase a package from Renntech for 3k containing Pulleys and ecu tune... they are the most reputable company and have been around for a very long time doing Mercedes tuning.. they will also retune your ecu if you do further upgrades and they are known for great customer service... This is a great Choice...

You can purchase a package from Evosport for about the same price as the Renntech, but it will also contain iridium spark plugs and ignition wires... as far as I know no crossfire owner has taken this path... If you go this path make sure you get the dampened pulley...

Lastly you can go with Speed Innovation which have proven themselves over these boards to be a successful and reputable tuner that will do the Ecu tune, pulleys, sl intake package, and the install for 3.4k... many crossfire owners have gone this route with great success in dynos and service... this is another great choice...

All in all it depends on your area mostly if you are near Florida I would go with Renntech as their main station is located there, but if you are in Cali I would go with the Speed Innovation, of course you do not have to be near the area to make the purchase, but you can always make it easy on yourself and if there are any problems bring it in for an inspection...

Hope this helps... there is also info on exhaust, but that is for another topic since you were only concerned with pulleys and ecu...
