Default Just back with my "NEW" SRT

Well, I just put 5,400 miles in three weeks on a new SRT I picked up at Speedway Motors in Chicago. Did a beautiful road trip thru the SE and SW during the heat wave. I saw temps as high as 115 over black pavement, and the car behaved almost flawlessly. On incredibly hot days, after being off for a few mins I would run into some vapor lock, having to run the starter twice to get ignition, otherwise the temps were good, but as its a black car, the a/c could barely keep up and the glass felt like a blast furnace.

A few thoughts - this car is reasonably light for a modern performance car, but much more a GT than an urban sports car. With its long legs it wants to run at license threatening speeds. Cops in AZ are nice, I got popped for 118 in Williams, bought him a steak over his break, and he wrote me for 10 over and "kept me out of jail for the night".

I would like more exhaust blat on the highway as anything over about 85 is mostly intake roar. Does the removal of the forward resonators result in too much edge in the city, or is it tolerable?? How about warranty??

One of the lower intake mesh grills came off, trying to get replaced on warranty, and the ebay ones only secure to the existing ones, so no joy there. In Canada so had Daytime Running lights installed, only the little LED light in the upper outside corner is on now during lights off, and it looks very cool. After two years exposure, the lenses are full of hairline cracks and oxidized, so I wonder if there is any way of just replacing the lenses short of replacing the entire assembly. If not, I will try dark tint just to pimp it out and live with it I guess. Need to reset the tire warning system as I had to plug a nail hole in the lower pass meats, other than that, I am having way too much fun with traction off around town!

I understand. We are getting older. We don't read as well, cause our eyes are going dim. We don't think as fast. We can't run as fast. We have CRS. Can hardly type. And older women keep looking better and better. Just ask my wife. She will tell you that is a true statement.

Ahh man I'm having a senior moment.

Seems there was a post about six months or so ago that someone from Canada had to replace the front and rear bumpers on a US spec car so he could register it in Canada. Have you checked on this?

Welcome back... I live in AZ and don't run into any vapor
lock issues. There is recall on fan motor. Check and see
if that has been done. Don't know if this would help
that issue but should be done anyway.
Regarding lenses, I believe the entire
light assemble needs to be replaced. These should be covered.
Regarding running lights, you may know this, but just turn
light switch to the right one click and pull know out. This
activates running lights..
I still can't believe the the cop gave you a ticket for 10 over.
Were you on I40?? Get a radar detector. It has saved my bacon
numerous times on AZ roads.. The roads out here are made to
go fast, smooth, banked, etc...

Congrats on the purchase!!! Glad you two had a good trip to get to know each other. That always helps cement a good long term relationship.

You can get COMPLETE headlight assemblies on eBAY for less than $100 each. If you want to go the easier, cheaper way, then try the Mequires PlastiX. It WORKS GREAT for clearing up those weathered headlight lenses, and it only cost you about $6 and 30 Minutes time.

As far the TPMS Light, whenever mine comes on(when I lower the pressure at the drag strip) it always goes back off once the proper air pressure is put back in. If your's is still on after the tire repair, double check and make sure there is 36 PSI in them COLD.

Good luck and ENJOY!
