Are you the guy that has the Silver 300 SRT-8 with the Supercharger? And didn't you have something to do with some sort of car audio company a few years back? If that's you, we met at the Track Experience at VIR last October... I hope that's you anyway, I remember him saying was from that area of Northern Virginia...

 

Nope. I have a Steel Silver. I don't want to put a SC on until someone gets it right. GSM has blown too many engines with their kit. Diablo is finally making a tuner, so you are going to see many 475 hp+ SRT-8's out there. It will be hard for a SRT-6 to take one then. BTW, I've tracked my car on VIR and you'd be amazed at how many "sports cars" I embarrassed! I love that track.

 

I wouldn't be able to race him after getting "That Look", I wouldn't be able to stop laughing!

 

I have spanked a vast variety of cars including the car above mentioned srt 8..."BAD" srt8 are gutless have nothing to the srt6, also i've raced my friends modded 2002 zo6 vette with mods he has an xpipe hooker headers and was beat bye maybe a car length at about 120 mph but up TO 120 it was neck and neck...i've also spanked a bunch of m3's and vettes...we raced a 2007 brand new vette about a month ago and also neck and neck it was whoever got the jump off the start...the only mod i've done is removing the resonator and building a larger diameter exhaust system...

 

"Gutless". HA HA HA! That's pretty funny. Any video on you spanking a SRT-8? Also, was this 0-60, 1/4 mile, 0-120? You can't beat a SRT-8 at higher speeds.

 

If you're in the nyc area (please say yes) you can have your choice of my charger or 300c srt8. This offer is not just for Freakingfast, any srt6 who wants to run for fun let me know.

 

You SRT-8 guys just dont know what you are getting into! The SRT-6 is the fastest SRT made excluding the Viper. Take your porkers home and park'em.

Here's a quote from a buddy who went to a SRTTE and talked with an instructor:

"I asked the instructors what's up with the srt6 since I was surprised it beat the srt8s. He said in the 1/8 the srt6 is quicker, but the 1/4 mile goes to the srt8. The srt6 only run mid to high 13s and barely get 100-101 trap speeds. 108 trap speeds and low 13s for the srt8."

Now, that trap speed and 1/4 mile time is conservative. Many of the members are running low 12's and a couple of high 11's. SRT-6 wins 0-60, but not 1/4 mile and high speed. You can't make up for the displacement, torque, and hp's.

 

That is what the blower is there for, to make up for the displacement. Add pulleys to it and its a whole different story.

We're comparing two totally different vehicles here:
4 Door vs. 2 Door
5 Seater vs. 2 Seater
Etc.

But that's fine.
Realistically speaking, they should be very close.
Let's look at the publication Road and Track and use their numbers.

2005 Chrysler 300C SRT8 (tested in R&T 7/2005)
0-60, 4.7 sec
1/4 Mile, 13.2 sec

2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Coupe (tested in R&T 10/2004)
0-60, 4.8 sec
1/4 Mile, 13.3 sec

Very close indeed.

Let us compare power to weight ratio (weights taken from MSN Autos):
300C SRT8 - 4,160 lbs w/425 HP equals 9.79 lbs/HP.
300C SRT8 - 4,160 lbs w/420 ft. lbs. tq equals 9.9 lbs/ft. lb. tq.

Crossfire SRT6 Coupe - 3,240 lbs w/330 HP equals 9.82 lbs/HP.
Crossfire SRT6 Coupe - 3,240 lbs w/310 ft. lbs. tq equals 10.45 lbs/ft. lb. tq.

If the SRT6 has the true power figures as many believe - 349 HP and 332 ft. lbs. torque, the figures change to 9.28 lbs/HP and 9.76 lbs/ft. lb. torque.

Assuming both vehicles are bone stock, it would be close either way.
Full straight-a-ways, the SRT8 could be victorious. Throw a curve in there, things will change.

Of course, all this depends on a multitude of factors - weather, hook-up, drivers, mods, etc.

Sounds like a good race, be careful out there though.

Guys, I'm not trying to come on here being all cocky. I'm going to own one of these soon! I will then race them against each other. You are right about a few things. They are two different cars and we have many battles on our board about WRX's, Evo's, 'Vette's, etc. But, that's why I don't like comparing cars on paper. The most important numbers are gear ratios and where the torque bands are. I've driven both cars at the track. No contest on the twisties -- SRT-6. However, stock for stock, it cannot beat it in a distance race. Both cars are point and shoot, so it really doesn't come down to the driver. After 1/8 mile, the SRT-8 will pull on the Crossfire and it won't be able to keep up. We've seen this with M3's, Evo's, WRX's, etc. Just check our board or racing vids.
I haven't seen or heard from members or professional drivers who state otherwise. There are alot of smart cars guys here. Tell me how a SRT-6 can pull all the way through the power band up to 1/4 and more on a SRT-8 when it produces more torque and hp at higher speeds?

 

You want to talk numbers... i've run 13.06 @ 109 mph bone stock on 2 all-season tires... also backed it up that night at the track with back to back to front 13.11-13.16's.

I dyno'ed a either 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after (i can't remember which event came first) at A-Spec Tuning in Schaumburg and put down 290 whp on a DynoJet.

 

Are they any srt6's in the nyc area...who wants to race my "gutless" srt8, anyone??? I have the perfect place were we can get them up to the governors...

Oh yeah, the fastest recorded stock srt8 time is 12.56 at 111.50

Hot thread here, love it! I've always wanted to hunt down one of those oinkers and if I am ahead, and I will be ahead at the end of the 1/8th, it'll be shut down. Nowhere to race on the streets beyond that distance or speeds reached in that distance. The SRT-8' remind of the GTO's, overweight. Already took one of them down. They are 400 hp and 3,800 lbs.
