SRT6 VS SRT6 W/ Renntech kit
I got the opportunity to drive a friends stock SRT6 yesterday, he was having some problems and he wanted me to drive the car. So we went for a little ride, I didn't run it hard, but hard enough to get the feel of what it had. He had been wanting to go for a ride in my car with the Renntech kit to see how much difference there was. I got mine out of the toy box, tried to get him to drive, but he said he would rather just ride. I think I scared the crap out of him,
he said that it was probably the fastest car he had ever rode in. After driving his and then getting in mine, I would compare it to getting out of a regular Xfire and getting in a SRT6 for the first time. I really couldn't believe the difference, I installed the kit at 800 mile's and had not driven the car hard before it had around 1,000 mile's on it.

I am looking at the ASP pulley system (14% boost) for $970 and a ECU tune for around $500 (or less). $1470 total and you can do the upgrade in stages. The savings will more then pay for my stereo and CF dash upgrade.
A bigger pulley is a bigger pulley IMO and the AMG supercharged 3.2L engine has been around long enough the all the Chip Tuners to have developed (or reversed engineered) the parameters/maps for the boost overdrive.
I plan on taking my stock SRT in for a dyno run. Then install the ASP pulley and dyno again for the results. Then have the ECU tuned and dyno one last time.
But this week I am having my headlamps and a tire replaced (warranty), resonator removed (when my Burns Stainless parts arrive) and next weekend I will be lowering the suspension.

Some days I think, 'This car is plenty fast for me. I do not need more power. I will leave it as is.'
Other days (especially after reading your posts) I think, 'DO IT! MORE POWER!!!'
I've got some other things to do (finish my basement, etc.) before I can even think about doing it, but it is always in the back of my mind.
Keep us in the know about your results, etc.

I have to admit that I have a slight addiction to power. The Renntech kit is my list of things to do, but based on your description it's moved up a notch. I know someone that had a car custom built by Renntech and I have to say their quality, service and a support is outstanding. They are also one of the top Mercedes tuners and have a close relationship with the factory especially since the founder is a former AMG employee.
For peace of mind and not wanting to risk damaging my motor, I would spend the extra money and go with a trusted brand like Renntech.
Based on the reading I've done, the numbers seem to be around 400 HP after the kit. I would really love to see dyno figures from a SRT-6 to back this up and not from an SLK 32.
I have a official Renntech tuner about a block from my office. Once I get my SRT I'll bring it by for a "consultation" and let everyone know what they say.
Saying that the difference is going from a non-SRT to an SRT with this upgrade says a lot!

Did the Eibach springs help with traction? Would wider tires make a difference as well? Maybe moving to 275's?
The SLK 55 also has a lot of traction issues as well. It has 394 HP.

Opps, you are right. For some reason 394 HP is in my mind when I think of that car. I still know it has traction issues. With 376 ft lbs of torque, it could easily have issues hooking up.

Steve,
What kind of wheels did you go with? I'm surprised to hear that you can still break traction with 285's and softer springs. Maybe the short wheel base doesn't help either when it comes to rear end traction.
