Well the leaves are falling and the temps are dropping here in Minnesota. When I bought the car off the showroom floor in 2006, it had 11 miles on it. Now with 8,300, it's time to put the fuel stabilizer in, and the custom fitted cover on, and say goodnight.
I guess one good thing about storage is keeping low miles on her. I was wondering how many forum members store thier cars to? Also during those cold winter days and nights, I will keep and eye on forum postings, since there is great information and great people too!
I put my SRT-6 roadster away on Sunday. I washed and waxed it, put Sta-bil in the tank, hooked up the Battery Tender, and put the cover on. I'll start it up once a month and let it idle but that's it until the snow is gone and a good rain has washed the salt off the roads.
Having to put my SRT-6 away for the season is the only thing I don't like about living in Minnesota.

Being a Florida native I never really thought about it. It would be sad to "Put it away".
If you need to get out of the snow, come on down and you can take mine for a ride... Last year I only needed to put on a jacket a few times. This time of the year is "OUR" spring. I opened the windows on my car for the first time just the other day on the way into work...
Bummer Dudes!!!
I'll jump in the XF and cruz the beach after work (in my tank top, shorts and flip flops) just for you guys!!

Though my SRT-6 may stay covered in the garage, I'll continue to drive my Limited. It will see some use over the winter but hopefully not much. I ride the bus to work and my wife has a Ford Escape hybrid if the snow gets really deep.
Mine is also in hibernation for the winter and has been for a couple of weeks -
.
What I did:
Oil and filter change.
STA-BIL in fuel (ran it for a while too, to ensure circulation).
Detailed inside and out with a fresh coat of carnauba.
Box of baking soda inside (helps absorb any odors/moisture).
Tires on styrofoam blocks (prevents flat spots) that are on top of tarps (helps keep cold/moisture from coming up through the concrete).
Covered w/Mopar SRT6 Roadster cover.
Battery is out w/float charger hooked up to it.
Come on Spring -

I order a set of these for the tires: http://www.discountramps.com/flat-stoppers.htm

Mine also goes into storage after the first snow, I suppose with the coupes we don't have the cold weather keeping us from driving top down. I think the cold weather does make driving a bit more exciting with the extra power it gives.
I will be driving an AWD Tsi Talon for the snowy months so I don't loose out on all the excitement, just most of it.
SRT6-MAN, is that you I see in the Champlin area every now and then??

I debating if I am going to do it this year with the new SRT6 bad gas sucks in this vehicle and My garage is really well insulated I don't think it will get cold enough to freeze. I am new to this, This is only me second year storing a car any input would help.
It helps keep the gas from 'gumming' up.
I would definitely use it before you store it.
I put the stabil in today and hope to get a couple of rides in before taking it to my buddy's heated garage this sunday. Then it will get a monthly running and I will keep my charger hooked up. I plan on changing the oil in the spring. I only put less than 3200 miles this year.
I, like SideZ, am not putting mine away either - in fact, looking for some all-season rubber for the winter (to replace the Michelins). I will avoid most (if not all) snow, ice and other precip (like I would go anywhere on ice anyway) and with 4 cars and 3 drivers (don't ask!) I can pretty much accomplish this. I bought a set of regular (non-SRT rims) and will be shodding them with the all-season rubber (probably Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons - I have had bad luck with Conti's - so not going there) Regardless, I'm driving all winter!
No official storage for mine. I will not drive when snow is on the ground but when the roads are dry it will be driven.
I have an attached insulated heated garage and keep it at 60 degrees throughout the entire winter so no issues there either. Even if I did do a winter storage I would not do it this soon. Like others said here wait until the first snowfall at least. Heck today was nearly 70 degrees and I was out on my Motorcycle and rode 100 miles and this is Chicagoland weather. Unseasonable for sure. Who knows maybe it won't snow til December.
