Car shuttering at start up?
Went to fire the car up and it was shuttering for about 30 secs? It has done it before but been a while. Anyone else ever experience this? I think it's time to take her in for a check up, especially with all the tranny problems people have been having.
I was planning on doing an intake setup and upgradeing the intercooling system this weekend, but may hold off until after the dealer visit.

However, with a modern EFI car, you shouldn't have to use any throttle to level out the cars idle until it is warm (like you may have to on a tempramental carb'd car).
I related it to my long cranking/hard start problem, which I believe is caused by the auxiliary fuel pump (according to member AtomHeart who had his fixed).
Does your car ever crank for an excessive amount of time before firing?

Mine would run rough for a few seconds after a long crank. This has all definitely been solved by replacing the fuel pump. I'm betting this is due to these cars sitting in storage for a long time before being sold. Were both of your cars recent purchases of older model years?

Did they mention what was wrong with the pump? I'm wondering if it is a seal of some sort that allows the pressure to leak-down, therefore the car doesn't prime itself correctly.
The car seems to run just fine afterwards.

I can't recall on the crank time. Atom, Yes our cars were recently purchased from Bonham with low miles and probally sitting for quite some time. I'll mention that fuel pump when I take it in. My car also stalled out a while back at a stop light, the gas was kinda low, so maybe that too was related to the pump?
Does this "shutter" feel like a wiggle?? Mine has always cranked right over, but sometimes it has a wiggle(hard to explain). Almost feels like the engine was out of balance or something. It only happens for a couple of seconds though......
Mine is more severe on some occasions than othes.
When it is worst, it feels like it is running on 4 or 5 cylinders until I lightly tap the throttle, then it picks up. It is likely a lack of fuel scenario, or lack of spark - but I assume fuel.
The car does 'wiggle' a bit when it does this...and it doesn't sound smooth audibly.

i too have noticed this from time to time, almost like a dead miss.
i here the prime on the fule pump then start up, if i tap the gas pedal.
then it will wiggle a little then clears up, usually when i let it just sit for a min or 2 it is fine,
fuel pumps will die if the car sit's for some time or if you run the really low on gas,
had a supra one time that i let the gas get really low, parked on a hill and it damaged the
fuel pump probably some trash it picked up and clogged the pump, how ever this shouldn't be
the case on these new cars.

Just had a similar problem with my stage 3 SRT-4 the other day. Hadn't started it in a few weeks and it was wiggling all over the place. I also just chalked it up to either not enough fuel pressure in the system or maybe even some condensation in the tank. Glad to hear I'll potentially have the same problem when I pick up an SRT-6.
There is a thread somehere on here about intermittent starting difficulties, which flummoxed many owners (and SRT6 Mechanics
) until it was traced to the Fuel Pump Relay courtesy of the MB Forum.
The contacts on the relay apparently become pitted and cause intermittent problems. Once replaced; those who had reported the problem said it went away. Could be the same issue here.
Worth a try as the relay is only a few bucks and it's an easy self-fit.

dealer just called me and said I had a couple fouled plugs and that was my problem? they don't know anything about the intercooler situation and never heard of a TSB on it. i'm about to search for that thread on here and send it to them.
no luck at the dealer, all they did was change the plugs, even after I printed a page from this forum. I haven't had the chance to test the car yet, so maybe it was the plugs, but I doubt it. Guess I'm gonna procede with my CM30 pump upgrade and hope the IAT sensor is still good.
My car has been doing this much more frequently now that it has become colder outside. Not sure what that means, but it seems to have increased.
ESPECIALLY on first startup in the morning, the car will buck and shake like a worn out washing machine until it levels itself out. Not sure what it is...
