Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
I'm guessing Beaner that'd be an SL55 intake and cover on an M112....?
L8tr - I'd be wrong.....
I'm still in 2 minds as to
a) go this way (conservative) or....
b) go for a setup like Syfi's with the 3" tube and 4" pod filters.
both would be about $400 total (for me in Oz)
The Syfi setup offering possibly a few more high end hp, but the stock look appeals to a particular clientele.
Then of course there are possibly even better Y-pipes for a couple more hp

Many have expressed an interest to fab one on here and the MB forums but nothing has ever materialized.

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Probably getting a little off topic....
but pictured for inspiration - (from their website here) the FTP Y-Pipe for their SLK55 3" system.
I'm not sure what the calipers should say for SLK32/SRT6.

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
I was hoping that one picture of the Y-piece might provide inspiration for someone.
Getting the "caliper figure" for the SRT6/SLK32 would be good as well.
Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
here's a shot of the stock SRT6/SLK32 intake Y-piece. from here
Can someone help me clarify the dimensions - I've assumed 79.5 is the inner dim...looking for help with X,Y,Z

PS - if someone's wondering why I cant do this myself - I'm not in the country....working overseas.

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Well my Airboxes arrived last week...(so did I after another couple of weeks away).
very tidy and clean - more than happy (for $250 incl freight), given one of my last air boxes was damaged from a broken engine mount and a new one is going to tidy that up at least.
Anyways - just like to check a couple of things before I go whole hog on the install.
1) they didn't come with the intake pipes from the radiator....like these (I knew this though)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-Mercedes-R230-SL55-air-intake-hose-tube-pipe-set-1130941782-1130941682-oem-/391021556857?vxp=mtr and pictured....SL55_IntakPipes_1130941782_&_113094168 2.jpg
....do I really need them? diameter and length wise - or can I reuse my old ones?
........Maybe I could use some silicon hose and make the whole thing (with devils horns) a lot wider...but thought I'd ask the question regardless.
If Yes... please PM me if you know of a set or are willing to help me out with freight forward (to save the stupid prices the parts guys charge to Australia.
2) the K&N filters that came with them are a little dark...but you can still see daylight through the mesh, so according to their website here they should be fine.
.... The sales guy who sold me the boxes said they only had 2000miles on them and threw both of them in for $20.
............I have since discovered there are home remedy alternatives to their cleaning and re-oiling products.

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Is this a direct fit for the SRT6? http://http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-AMG-W211-E55-W219-S55-CLS55-SL55-W220-AIR-BOX-ASSEMBLY-INTAKE-OEM-/191517943969
Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Unfortunately he doesn't list part numbers...
As per previous in this thread from Brian....you need...
Part # 113 090 01 29 - Y-Pipe with hoses
Part # 113 090 06 01 – Right side airbox with filter
Part # 113 094 16 82 – Right side intake tube (to radiator support)
Part # 113 090 05 01 – Left side airbox with filter
Part # 113 094 17 82 – Left side intake tube (to radiator supprt)
But it does mention SL55...so you "should" be right
b22b
the other thing I picked up on with this is that one of the throttle body clips (top) is missing....

Chris, it looks right but it also looks to be missing one of the clips to attach it to the throttle body (there should be two). Also there are no tubes shown. If bought separately they can get expensive.

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Really like the look but if the cost is close to NEEDSWING might as well go that route.
Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
then these are way over priced - but in line with what I've been seeing...
here
I cant do parts.com efficiently being in Oz.

Without the part # pictured or in the text it's tough to say what these are. At least I missed the part number and I don't trust ebay posters enough to go with their assessment of what the part fits.
I found this that semi corresponds to the parts listed in the OP... https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...iagram=5781880
Can you do the MB parts or euro parts sales websites in OZ?

Re: SL55 AMG V8 Intake Conversion
sorry - are these US website?
I've found in the past that US parts are good price wise but some don't offer post to Australia or the post is very expensive.
Alternate option is to go freight forward - but I've never gotten that far.
They too are a can of worms...
Having said that I have used AutohausAZ successfully - but my order has been 300-500$ and the post comes in around $100-$150...see what I mean.
