Default First night at the track

Hey all. I am new to this forum by a few weeks. Just been reading alot. I took my srt to the track last Friday night and ran a 13.06 @ 108mph. I figured for first time at the track ever and with that car that wasn't bad. I hope it wasn't a fluke because I have heard alot of people say close to a 14 is good. The car is a bone stock 05 with 4k miles on it. Bought it three weeks ago with 2.5k miles. Took a little road trip already ha.

Looking forward to seeing more things become availible for this car.

Was also saddened that the 400whp mark seems somewhat unobtainable without nitrous. Probably going to have to go turbo to free up some extra power.

Thanks guys,
Ben

Welcome to the forum. That was a good run time stock as RPM noted.

CLICK HERE and read the very first post in the thread. This sums up a few mods that will make your SRT6 run it's best time.

Hey Ben, what was your launch technique? Have you driven in drag racing before?

That's a great time for a first run. The best time posted on dragtimes.com - fora stock SRT-6 - was by Rob at NeedWings with 13.044, so you're darn close on your first try. Nice job.

If you go turbo you may have to take the supercharger off...

Sounds like a good time to me!

Which track, and what weather conditions?

I could only muster a 13.2 but I had humid hot air and couldn't keep the tires from spinning (bad track prep).

Nice work!

why do we need to take the S/C off in case of a turbo install?...

I don't see the need for a turbo with a supercharger. If you are using "twincharge" system it work best on a two stroke. There is some discussion about using turbo to drive pulley system...doubtful if the gain is worth the weight and complexity. Bottom line is to increase supercharger pressure to point of diminishing return....

First off, that is a damn good time. The best I could get out of mine was a 13.36 also in terrible conditions with high temps and humidity. The tracks aren't open in my area yet, so I hoping March will see some lower numbers.

Why do think that 400WHP is unattainable? Heck, you can go from 290ish to 320ish with just an intake. Add a custom tune, 185 Pulley, open up the exhaust, port and polish the Supercharger and all intake parts, swap in some colder plugs and that should do it or close to it.

I was reading that the guy from LET had the most modded amg c class and with nitrous was at about 360whp.. He had ported and polished heads and s/c I believe. Point is I need to find out how much boost is safe for daily driving without fear of snapping a rod or something tragic like that. If it was still obtainable with the motor, but couldn't get enough boost from the s/c, I would tear off the s/c and go twin turbo.

I got pretty lucky at the track. Pretty cool night, I'd say 65F and had about thirty minutes with the hood popped before first run. I am sure that helped with the heatsoak issue. The temp gauge still read in the middle right before the run. I launched in tractional control, foot on brake, held tach at 2500 and released.

Who do I need to talk to that has put this car through hell and back? Curious of all the limitations with motor, s/c, tranny, drive axle..etc.

Thanks for the welcome. You all seem friendly.
Ben

The same guy from LET is adding Twins to his car this weekend...so he would probably be a good guy to talk to.

I would also say that between Jerry and Erick at LET, they have done the most beating on the C32 as I have seen out of anyone.

However, I would still think that 400rwhp is not out of reach. It will depend a lot on which dyno you use though.
