Just ordered 2.5" DMH low profile E cutouts
Just ordered my DMH low profile electric cutouts. They are stainless and come with a 4 year warranty. $360 for the dual setup. I thought the pipes were 2.5 inch before the second cats, but after taking a look in the daylight today it looks like they may be 2" or 2.25"? Anyone know for sure? here's a pic of what I'm talking about.

Hopefully I can still make these work.

I'm gonna try to mount them like the GTO or maybe on the inside where the arrow is pointing in the Crossfire pic.

I've never seen any of these in person...but by looking at it, you SHOULD have enough play to make it work on a little bit smaller pipe.
BTW, I was surprised how small the exhaust is on the front section. I looked at getting a full S.S. system made, but then began to wonder if AMG didn't know something and decide that the smaller tubes helped in one way or another? I know exhaust and it's efficiency is more complicated then just making the biggest pipes possible. The bends and flow have a lot to do with it also.

Yeah I talked with the guy at Inmotion(I'm terrible with names) before I ordered my tune and asked him if they can disable the cat. CEL. I told him I was gonna have some test pipes made to eliminate the cats and he advised against it for several reasons. One being illegal(not a big deal in Louisiana), two he said he can't disable the CEL and three he said that the factory cats flow so well it wouldn't be worth it. So I took his advice and came across these on the LS1 forums. At least I'll eliminate the two rear cats, resonator and muffler when I open them up. I've seen 20-30whp gains and3-4 tenths ET reduction on other cars with cutouts, so I figured it's worth a shot. Plus I can cruise nice and quiet without drawing attention.
Are these some of the best out here? I have seen others, but a three year warranty sounds nice. I have heard of heat failures with the motors so, we'll see. I am sure there is a lot of labor involved in the install with custom fab cutting and welding. I think it would be cool to mount a switch in the armrest in the crossfire. More of a sleeper install.
I have dual 3'' DMH cutouts on my Charger's stock exhaust pipe and it's 2 3/4'' OD. You can easily fit bigger cuts on smaller pipe. Just make sure you don't drive through giant puddles of water with them on; that's what I did once. Mine still work but they are much slower open/close than before I submerged them in water.

I will be competing in the street tire class next Sunday at Import Face Off, as long as I get everything in next week and installed. I hope to get some video of me running an 11.99 without a pulley, but everything will have to be just right for it to happen. I plan to qualify on street tires, then slap the slicks on and open the cutouts. My mods will consist of my DIY 3" intake, custom rear mounted johnson pump with ghetto tank and dry ice dropped in the coolant, INmotion tune, cutouts and Mickey Thomson ET Street cheater slicks. My ECU should be back from INmotion tomorrow, so I will see how that feels tomorrow or saturday night. If I can get 20whp or 2 tenths with the cutouts I'll be happy and IMO this would be better than the ASP pulley. I wish the new Code3 pulley was out, because that will be my next mod if the reviews are good. I've been bit hard by the mod bug and on a mission for an 11 sec slip.
YES!!!! I've asked about these before and I'm happy I don't have to be the ginneau pig.
hope all goes well! Please post video/audio clips and I'll be sure to follow..
Do those allow you to partially open the cutouts or are they either all the way open or all the way closed? I will be interested to see if you lose torque with them all the way open. Some cars do, some do not. If you can partially open them that may give you the room to play with to get the max power out of the cut outs. If you can make it onto a dyno one day that would be a great way to test it.

The stock cats do not flow all that well. You have 2 sets of 400 cell cats per cylinder bank. There is room for improvement and you will see a HP gain.
yeah I was thinking I could just hollow them out and do the old plug fowler trick(seen people do this on the old VR4), but I'd be screwed if I ever had to get it tested and it's kinda ghetto. I wonder if the secondary cats would be enough to pass. How do you know they are so restrictive? Have you ever flow tested the stock cats?
just read your post again, the cutouts will eliminate the rear cats and everything back. I don't believe there are any sensors for the rear cats, so if I choose to leave the front cats alone there shouldn't be an issue. I just wish I had some real data to verify how restrictive the front cats really are before I hack them up or pay $$$ to have test pipes built.

Just buy another one of the funtional switches, paint it completely silver and wire the e-cuts to it. That way it would still "look" like a dummy switch.............but actually work for your exhaust.

I considered trying to wire it to electronically 'remove' fuses 17&18 with the touch of a button, but will likely wait a while unless someone else has any cool ideas.

sweet! That would be perfect! I found a pic. I think I will try to order that switch tomorrow and wire it to the cutouts. I did something similiar with an old civic, on the cruise control switch slot(car didn't have cruise) for my nitrous.
I caaaaaan't wait to hear these babys!!
mmmmmm
perfect use for the dummy switch too..
on the charger forums they say you get the best performance with them 50% open.. just fyi. open em all they way to turn heads for the sweet sound, close when the 5-0 is nearby
