Default Which gauges?

I am in the process of looking for gauges to put in my SRT6. I believe I need a fuel/air, vacumn/boost and an EGT. Has anyone installed these and where is the best place to buy them? Brand of gauges? Do I need any other gauges?

I did a search but wasn't satisfied with the info I found.

Thanks.

depends on what you want to spend autometer are pretty good, but I love these ebay ones These are the ones that I am going to go with. I am a stickler for making everything look stock. Its going to take some fiberglass work but will be worth it in the end. There pretty cheap I wonder how well they work??

Might be nice looking gauges but I always question the quality when the company cant even get the add written properly. They may be just fine, but it makes me wonder, where do they come from and do the folks putting them together know what they are doing. Sorry, I do quality and manufacturing engineering for a living.

Has anybody tried PLX DM-200 gauges? They're a little expensive but they sound like they could solve a lot of problems.

I believe aem can take care of you. Check out my thread for the mounting of the boost gauge. To my best understanding a/f makes an egt gauge pointless, id just go that route.

For that cheap money, they do come with a 1-Year Warranty and the Vendor has over 27,000 ebays sales to date with a 99% Positive Feedback. I'd give them a shot. If they go bad in 2 years, you haven't lost much. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that there is no real mention of what type of Oil Pressure guage it is (Electrical/Mechanical) I had a bad experience with an Autometer Mechanical Oil Guage. The Tude feeding it into the interior of the car developed a whole in an unseen kink in the tube and started dripping oil into the interior of
the car.

Has anyone come up with a "Clean" way to mount multiple guages in an Xfire? I'm wondering if one of those Universal triple pillar pods would work. I really want guages, but I want them to blend in as much as possible. Looking a Pedestal Pods on top of the dash with Wire loom hiding the wires is NOT gonna happen. Also, I don't want to cut of drill into the dash pad. Any idea. The AEM Boost Guage install I saw on here look terrible in my opinion. It's so out of place looking.

**** NEVERMIND, I found the Oil guage sold individually on their site. It is an Electrical Gauge with an electric sending unit. GAME ON!****

Might be a solution, but I've seen them in Neons, and the display is hard to read at a glance and the setup isn't cheap. By the time you get the basic Wideband setup for $279, then add the LCD Display, Boost Map Sensor, EGT Sensor, etc, you've spent $500 easy.

Get some glasses....................you gotta pay to play. Going cheap on key stuff like this isn't a smart thing to do.

I've got glasses........

This isn't what I would consider a "key" component. Unless you are going to be running a stand alone EMS, and doing serious tuning on a regular basis (hard to do without a Mercedes diag computer or EMS) these aren't that necessary. For $500, I can think of other things I'd rather have. But that's just me. It is a clean setup and the datalogging would be nice, although of limited use to me.

To each his own. I've been around modified boosted cars for years and have seen many blown engines due to leaning out. Most of those were due to ignorance by not having A/F monitoring capabilities or people cheaping out and getting some Autometer narrowband gauge that doesn't accurately warn you of dangerous conditions. If you're stock and just want something flashy to stare at then by all means get some $100 or less gauge. If you plan on doing lots of mods(and making your own) it is best to have something very accurate that can store critical data.

I don't plan on needing that advanced setup. All I'm planing on doing is already done except for a moderate pulley and Drag Radials. An intake, 178 Pulley, ECU Tune and Exhaust doesn't need that level of monitoring. The car is still very close to stock at that point. Now, if I ever start getting into NO2, big pulleys, Custom tunes etc. then it would necessary.

All I'm saying is if all you need/want is a complete set of gauges, that a car like this should have come with anyway, these might not be a bad option. They obvioulsy aren't suited for tuning or serious monitoring of a built up beast.

Your ASSumption of my ignorance is annoying at best. You talk down to people as if they don't know what the **** they are talking about. I've been arond fast cars and been building engines since I was very little(helped build my first 350 at 7 YO). I now my stuff. I've built/owned 10/11 second street cars that were daily driven, so don't sit there on your stump and preace to me... I see just fine through my glasses

if your goal is to hide the gauges put em in the glove box. if you want that factory look someone needs to make a single/dual/or triple gauge pod for the xf!!!

ill be the first to buy it.

Please let me know, I did have to use a tach adapter to get my shift light to work. I tapped at the main bulkhead under the drivers side fuse box. And left the adapter under the hood attached to the fuse box, nicely hidden.
