Default At the track...

Ok guys, I have a little problem. I'm doing a little bracket racing today and I just made my first pass. I turned traction control off and put it in 1st. I brought the rpms to 1500 and mashed the pedal to the floor on last yellow. -.005 on the tree. first, the car felt incredibly sluggish off the line and didn't come close to breaking them loose. The 2.04 60ft would show that. Then as it was shifting into 2nd it felt like the trans was slipping(rpms jumped to 5500?). I got out of the gas and back into it and it seemed fine?? Car went 13.51@108. Very dissapointed! Im waiting on my second run, but what is going on with the car? Any ideas?

Did you do a burn out to get the tires clean and hot. If not you may have still hit the traction control because you can't turn it off all the way. Mine will sometime spin the tires with the t/c off and still bog for a moment. You can pull fuses 17-18 to disable it all together, I do this while at the track sometimes if the track is not preped right.

It seems like you have a very well prepped track which means you can launch even higher. I'd try 1800 rpm launch, roll into the throttle(don't mash) and keep the pedal to the floor until you pass the 1320 mark.

If you are on street tires you do NOT need to do a burnout. Also wait a good 30 minutes with the hood popped between passes.

Yes, did a burnout, but i know the tc was off. The way the track is, there is no avoiding the waterbox so....I'm forced to do the burnout. In order for me to be consistent on the tree, I have to "mash". Btw, just to let you guys know, ive been bracket racing for over 10 years. I know where the finishline is! Hahaha

Just a guess but maybe try a throttle reset?

Well, it sounds like you know what your doing. Maybe your car is having problems. With your mods(i think you have pulley and cai) you should be running mid 12's. Your speed is a 12 second run, next time don't let out of it just keep it floored.

How many miles on your ride because these trans are tough, just a little strange sometimes.

I have the pulley, but not installed. I just have the intake on right now. yes, before the pass I reset the throttle. I'll do that before each pass. I'm only getting one more before eliminations in about 30 min. Hopefully this time around will be better. The trans thing bothers me a bit though I have 46500 miles on it.

Atco raceway. Almost at sea level. Light head wind and about 55 60 degrees.

Update......unfortunately I didn't get another time shot. We went right into first round. Good news is the car ran great and I won the round I launched at 2200 and it made all the difference! Spun a tad and the 60ft was 1.923 with no trans slip. By half track I was 6 tenths quicker!! Since im bracket racing, I ended up getting out of it before the 1000ft mark(I was way ahead). The other guy was way late! I dialed a 13.40, but I'll probably dial down next round. Haha

Sweet; what was your 1/8 mile time and trap? That's a great 60' if you are on stock tires. Have you tried launching the car at full tranny lockup? If you want consistant runs(for bracket racing) that is THE way to launch. One night I did that in my Charger; before adding my power mods, and ran 3 passes.........all were within .03 of each other.

As i sit and wait for round 2.......8th mile I was 8.324@84.12 w/stock tires. Hows that compare to you guys? I'm figuring it would have run around a 12.9x@110. I haven't tried to launch any higher than that.

With mine on stock tires and SL55 complete intake with K&N drop ins I ran.........

2.05 60'
1/8: 8.34
mph: 86.23
1/4: 12.84
mph: 109.09

That was at LVMS which is at 2100 feet above sealevel and I believe it was 50-60* out.

Mine 8.03 @ 87.55 12.4 @ 111.09 1/4

I just checked dragtimes, you are right on the money 8.3 @ 86= 12.9 roughly

update.....getting colder out. Wind shifted to light tail. I won 2nd round car ran great again! Came out a little higher on the converter. 1.846(hooked) 8.255@84.03. Again, I got out of it at the big end as I was ahead. Dialed a 12.98 and went a 13.04@91.

Awsome job. I would imagine the cooler air is helping things as well. What was your RPMs this time while launching?

Thats very good, With only a needswings cai, my 60' was 1.945 1/8th 8.28 @85.59 end result 12.79 @ 109.72. So your right there or better.
